Ron François
Ron François (born April 1958) is a British musician, who first came to notice as the lead singer and bass player of the English R&B band The Strutters, which was involved in the London pub rock scene of the mid-1970s. In 1978, he recorded the debut album '' Stateless'' with the Lene Lovich band, from which came the UK hit single "Lucky Number". He then toured with the Lene Lovich band on the Stiff Records "Be Stiff Route 78 Tour" of the UK and New York. From 1978 to 1981, François worked with ex-Strutters Mark Kjeldsen and Bobbi (Irwin) Trehern, on a project they named the Sinceros. They went on to make two albums for Epic Records, ''The Sound of Sunbathing'' and '' Pet Rock'', and achieved moderate success before they disbanded in 1981. François continued playing sessions while remaining with Epic Records, releasing a solo single "If You Love Me", before joining the Teardrop Explodes for their '' Wilder'' album tour, which took place in the UK, Europe, Australia and the ... A bass ( /beɪs/) musical instrument produces tones in the low-pitched range C4- C2. Basses belong to different families of instruments and can cover a wide range of musical roles. Stiff Records is a British independent record label formed in London, England, by Dave Robinson and Jake Riviera. Originally active from 1976 to 1986, the label was reactivated in 2007. Established at the outset of the punk rock boom, Stiff signed various punk rock and new wave acts such as Nick Lowe, the Damned, Lene Lovich, Wreckless Eric, Elvis Costello, Ian Dury, and Devo. In the 1980s, with most of their early signings having moved on, the label found commercial success with Madness, The Pogues, Tracey Ullman, The Belle Stars, Kirsty MacColl and others. Absolutely (Eurogliders Album)
''Absolutely'' is the third studio album by Australian pop band Eurogliders, released on October 11, 1985 by CBS Records. It peaked at No. 7 on the Australian Kent Music Report albums chart and remained in the charts for 47 weeks; NOTE: Used for Australian Singles and Albums charting from 1970 until ARIA created their own charts in mid-1988. it spawned three top ten hit singles, " We Will Together" in April, " The City of Soul" in September and " Can't Wait to See You" in November. This Island (Eurogliders Album)
''This Island'' is the second studio album by Australian pop band Eurogliders, released on 7 May 1984 by CBS Records. The album had a lengthy recording process. Eurogliders changed record labels from PolyGram to CBS in 1983, and recorded the track "No Action" with producer Mark Opitz; it was released as a single in 1983 and peaked at No. 97. The band then replaced bassist Geoff Rosenberg (who had not played on "No Action") with Scott Saunders, and travelled to the UK in July. While there, they replaced Saunders with bassist Ron François, formerly of the Teardrop Explodes and Lene Lovich. With this line-up they recorded the rest of ''This Island'', produced by Nigel Gray (who had also worked with the Police). By the end of the year, the album recording was complete, but was still not ready for release. ''World Shut Your Mouth'' is the debut solo album by Julian Cope. Background ''World Shut Your Mouth'' was written during Cope's 1983 retreat to the village of Drayton Bassett (close to his childhood home of Tamworth, Staffordshire, Tamworth), following the breakup of Cope's former band The Teardrop Explodes. Two of the tracks, "Metranil Vavin" and "Pussyface", had in fact been originally intended for The Teardrop Explodes (and different versions of each appear on the belated 1990 release of the band's scrapped third album, ''Everybody Wants to Shag... Julian Cope
Julian David Cope (born 21 October 1957) is an English musician and author. He was the singer and songwriter in Liverpool post-punk band the Teardrop Explodes and has followed a solo career since 1983 in addition to working on musical side projects such as Queen Elizabeth, Brain Donor and Black Sheep. Cope is also an author on Neolithic culture, publishing ''The Modern Antiquarian'' in 1998, and a political and cultural activist with a public interest in occultism and paganism. ''Wilder'' is the second album by neo-psychedelic Liverpool band The Teardrop Explodes, and the final completed album released by the group. In 2000 former Teardrop Explodes leader Julian Cope gave his blessings to re-release ''Wilder'' with a selection of bonus tracks, mainly single b-sides, plus original artwork, a remastered sound, and full lyrics and essays. The Teardrop Explodes
The Teardrop Explodes were an English post-punk/neo-psychedelic band formed in Liverpool in 1978. Best known for their Top Ten UK single "Reward", the group originated as a key band in the emerging Liverpool post-punk scene of the late 1970s. The group also launched the career of group frontman Julian Cope as well as that of keyboard player and co-manager David Balfe (later a record producer, A&R man and founder of Food Records). Other members included early Smiths producer Troy Tate.
