Ron DeGregorio
Ron DeGregorio is an American ice hockey executive. He was the president of USA Hockey from 2003 to 2015, when he was elected the organization's fourth president since 1937 in 2003. He was awarded the Lester Patrick Trophy the same year. Career DeGregorio has been involved with ice hockey for more than 40 years. DeGregorio was first appointed to a USA Hockey post in 1973, when he was named the registrar for the New England District. He was elected to the USA Hockey board of directors in 1975, and later became the vice president of youth hockey. He was the treasurer in the 1980s. In 1995, DeGregorio was elected vice president and chairman of the USA Hockey International Council. He held those positions until 2003, when he was elected president. Ice Hockey
Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. Lester Patrick Trophy
The Lester Patrick Trophy has been presented by the National Hockey League and USA Hockey since 1966 to honor a recipient's contribution to ice hockey in the United States. It is considered a non-NHL trophy because it may be awarded to players, coaches, officials, and other personnel outside the NHL. The trophy is named after Lester Patrick (1883–1960), player and longtime coach of the New York Rangers, who was a developer of ice hockey. Mike Modano
Michael Thomas Modano Jr. (; born June 7, 1970) is an American former professional ice hockey player, who played primarily for the Minnesota North Stars/Dallas Stars franchise. He spent the final season of his NHL career with his hometown Detroit Red Wings. He is the all-time goal-scoring and points leader amongst American-born players in NHL history. Modano was drafted first overall by the North Stars in 1988, and after the team moved to Texas he helped the Stars win the Stanley Cup in 1999. The Kentucky Thoroughblades were a minor professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League, who existed from 1996 to 2001. The American Hockey League (AHL) is a professional ice hockey league based in the United States and Canada that serves as the primary Minor league#Ice hockey, developmental league for the National Hockey League (NHL).
