Guard (gridiron Football)
In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center (American football), center and the offensive tackle, tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for Blocking (American football), blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. Pittsburgh Passion
The Pittsburgh Passion is a women's American football team based in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The franchise was formed in March 2002 and is currently owned by Teresa Conn, Anthony Misitano, and the estate of Franco Harris. The team is a part of the Women's Football Alliance, with home games played at West Allegheny High School in Imperial, Pennsylvania. History In 2003, the Passion played its home games at Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, Belle Vernon Area High School. The team finished its inaugural season with a 2–6 record. The average attendance at each of their four home games that season was between 2,500 and 3,000 fans. In 2004 season, the Passion changed its home stadium to Ambridge High School's Rubenstein Stadium, Moe Rubenstein Stadium. Ronald Coder
Ronald T. "Ron" Coder (born September 14, 1928) is a former American soccer goalkeeper who was a member of the U.S. team at the 1956 Summer Olympics. Coder grew up in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, where he was a state champion high school track star. He entered Penn State University in 1947. Bill Jeffrey spotted Coder playing an intramural soccer game during Coder's sophomore year and recruited him into the school's soccer team. Coder and his teammates went on to win the 1950 and 1951 college championships. Coder graduated in the spring of 1951, was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force and became a tanker pilot. In 1955, he joined the Armed Forces soccer team. As a result, he attended trials for the 1956 U.S. Olympic soccer team and was selected as the team's starting goalkeeper. The Independent Women's Football League (IWFL) was the first Women's American football league established by women players for women players. The league was founded in 2000, began play in 2001, and played its last season in 2018. Members of the original roster of the Austin Outlaws were the league's founders.
