ROMAR Mažeikiai
Futbolo klubas ROMAR, commonly known as ROMAR, was a Lithuanian football club in Mažeikiai, in the center of Mažeikiai District. History Club was created in 1992. When some football people from Mažeikiai asked sponsorship for football club Mažeikiai (also known as FK Jovaras). Lithuanian businessman Romas Marcinkevičius established new football club and named it ROMAR FC. This club could buy new players and got promoted (Jovaras/Mažeikiai was in A lyga, so ROMAR took that place in A lyga). In 1993 was in 6th place, in 1994 they became a champions of Lithuania. In 1994/1995 season they was in 3rd place. But after that Romas Marcinkevičius left Lithuania and went to Canada Canada is a country in North America. Mažeikiai Stadium
Mažeikiai (; Samogitian: ''Mažeikē''; lv, Mažeiķi) is a city in northwestern Lithuania, on the Venta River. It has a population of around 43,547, making it the eighth largest city in Lithuania. The city is the administrative center of Mažeikiai district municipality in Telšiai County. It is the largest city that does not have its own county. History Mažeikiai was first mentioned in written sources in 1335. A chronicler of the Livonian Order wrote about a campaign of the Order, during which the land of Duke Mažeika was devastated. The town started growing rapidly in 1869 when the Libau–Romny Railway connecting Vilnius and Liepāja was constructed. In 1893, the town had 13 shops and 5 alehouses. In 1894 an Eastern Orthodox church was built, and a synagogue had been founded several years earlier. In 1902 a Catholic church was established, followed by an Evangelical-Lutheran church in 1906. The A Lyga is the top division of professional football in Lithuania. The A Lyga is an abbreviation of Aukščiausia lyga meaning Highest League. It is organized by Lithuanian Football Federation LFF ( lt, Lietuvos Futbolo Federacija). The Aukščiausia lyga also existed during the Soviet period of Lithuania, but was not considered to be a professional league until dissolution of the Soviet Union. The league size has varied between 8 and 12 teams in the recent seasons, however 2020 A Lyga the league featured record low of only 6 teams. But in the latest 2021 A Lyga season there were 10 teams.
