Rachael Wendy Bartholomew (born 22 February 1994), known by her stage name Rachael Leahcar, is an Australian singer and songwriter, born and raised in Adelaide, South Australia. She participated on the first season of ''The Voice Australia'', coming in third place. Shortly after, she signed a record deal with Universal Music Australia. Her debut album '' Shooting Star'', which contained songs she performed on ''The Voice'', as well as newly recorded covers, was released on 13 July 2012. ''Shooting Star'' is the debut studio album by Australian recording artist Rachael Leahcar, who finished third on the first season of ''The Voice Australia''. The album was released on 13 July 2012, through Universal Music Australia. It features songs Leahcar performed on ''The Voice'', two original songs, as well as newly recorded covers. Leahcar promoted the album with an in-store appearance at Westfield Marion in Oaklands Park, South Australia, where she signed copies of the album and performed the songs "La Vie en rose" and "Shooting Star". ''Here Comes the Sun'' is the third studio album by Australian recording artist Rachael Leahcar. The album was released on 11 April 2014, through Universal Music Australia. The album, a collection of Beatles covers, was announced on March 31, 2014 Leahcar described the album as “really special”. Background The idea for the album came about when Leahcar's record label, Universal, asked if she would be interested in doing a concept album. According to Leahcar, the album was "quite last minute" and was completed in just a few weeks. In addition to the songs featured on the album, Leahcar revealed she had also recorded other Beatles songs including, "The Fool on the Hill", "If I Fell", and "Dear Prudence", but they were ultimately cut. "I Go to Sleep" is a song written by Ray Davies, main songwriter for The Kinks, and first released by The Applejacks. It was never recorded by The Kinks, but Ray Davies's demo can be found in reissue bonus tracks of their second studio album '' Kinda Kinks''. Marion version "I Go to Sleep" was covered in 1967 by German singer Marion ( de) (later known as Marion Maerz). "What a Wonderful World" is a song written by Bob Thiele (as "George Douglas") and George David Weiss. It was first recorded by Louis Armstrong and released in 1967 as a single. It topped the pop chart in the United Kingdom, but performed poorly in the United States because Larry Newton, the president of ABC Records, disliked the song and refused to promote it. After it was heard in the film ''Good Morning, Vietnam'', it was reissued as a single in 1988, and rose to number 32 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Armstrong's recording was inducted to the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999. Composition and production Thiele produced the track under his own name, but as a co-composer was initially credited under the pseudonym George Douglas. George David Weiss
George David Weiss (April 9, 1921 – August 23, 2010) was an American songwriter and arranger, who was a president of the Songwriters Guild of America. He is an inductee in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Biography Weiss was born in a Jewish family, and originally planned a career as a lawyer or accountant, but out of a love for music he was led to attend the Juilliard School of Music, developing his skills in writing and arranging. After leaving school, he became an arranger for such big bands as those of Stan Kenton, Vincent Lopez, and Johnny Richards. He was a prolific songwriter during the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s, with many of his songs attaining high rankings on the charts.
