The Romanian Open is a darts tournament that is run by the Romanian Darts Federation (Federația Română de Darts). It is played in a legs format. History The tournament was established in 2010 and has been run yearly since. RIDO has been televised in Romania by Sport.ro since 2011. Accreditation RIDO is a WDF Ranking 1 event for men and WDF Ranking 2 event for women, and a BDO Invitation Category B ranking event. RIDO grants entry to the following year's Winmau World Masters for both the men and women singles' winners. InterContinental Bucharest
The Grand Hotel Bucharest is a 24-story high-rise five-star hotel situated near University Square, Bucharest, in Sector 1. Opened in 1971 as the Inter-Continental Bucharest, it is a city landmark. History Designed by Dinu Hariton, Gheorghe Nădrag, Ion Moscu, and Romeo Belea, the hotel was part of a larger development that included the Bucharest National Theatre. Construction began in 1967, and the hotel opened on 23 May 1971 as the Inter-Continental Bucharest. At the time, it was the second tallest building in the city, after the House of the Free Press. Although it no longer holds that title today, it is still the tallest hotel in Bucharest. It became the hotel of choice for members of the foreign press in Bucharest. Scott Waites
Scott Waites (born 17 February 1977) is an English professional darts player who plays in tournaments of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). He is a two-time BDO World Darts Champion having won the 2013 tournament and 2016 tournament. He is also a former Winmau World Masters champion, WDF World Cup singles' champion, Zuiderduin Masters champion. He also won the 2010 Grand Slam of Darts, becoming the only BDO representative to win the event. Career Waites' first career success came in February 2007 when he won the Dutch Open an event which attracted 2867 entries. He also took the Welsh Masters title in March 2007 and earlier reached the final of the 2007 Scottish Open. Darts or dart-throwing is a competitive sport in which two or more players bare-handedly throw small sharp-pointed missiles known as darts at a round target known as a dartboard. Rachel Brooks (born 30 September 1963, from Wroot) is an English darts player. Career Brooks started playing darts when she was 45, and now competes on the international level. In 2012, she won her first tournament, the Czech Open, and in 2013 she won the World Masters. Lorraine Winstanley (née Farlam, born 28 October 1975) is an English darts player who plays in both World Darts Federation (WDF) and Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Career Winstanley won the 2011 Romanian International Darts Open beating Jane Shearing 5–1 in the final. She qualified for the 2011 BDO World Darts Championship, where she lost 0–2 to Irina Armstrong in the quarter-finals. Garry Thompson (born 9 January 1965) is a former English professional darts player who played in the British Darts Organisation tournaments. Darts career Thompson reached the quarter finals of the 2004 British Open, beating Tony David and Darryl Fitton before losing to Phill Nixon. He then reached the quarter finals of the 2007 Belgium Open, again beating Fitton along the way. He lost to Robbie Turner. Martin Atkins (born 24 December 1965) is an English professional darts player. His nickname is The Assassin.
