Romanian Footballer Of The Year
The Romanian Footballer of the Year ( ro, Fotbalistul român al anului), also known as the Nicolae Dobrin Trophy ( ro, Trofeul Nicolae Dobrin), is an annual association football award given by the ''Gazeta Sporturilor'' newspaper to the Romanian player adjudged to have been the best during a calendar year. The current holder is Florin Niță, who won the award for his performances in 2021 representing Sparta Prague. It has been presented since 1966 and is currently named after Nicolae Dobrin, the first recipient of the award and one of Romania's most notable footballers. Gheorghe Hagi, the joint leading goalscorer of the national team alongside Adrian Mutu, has received the trophy a record of seven times. Other annual honours handed out by ''Gazeta Sporturilor'' include the Foreign Player of the Year in Romania and the Romania Coach of the Year awards. Gheorghe Hagi
Gheorghe "Gică" Hagi (; born 5 February 1965) is a Romanian professional football manager and former player, who is currently the owner and manager of Liga I club Farul Constanța. Deployed as an attacking midfielder, Hagi was considered one of the best players in the world during the 1980s and '90s, and is regarded by many as the greatest Romanian footballer of all time. Fans of Turkish club Galatasaray, with whom Hagi ended his career, called him "''Comandante''" ("The Commander"), while he was known as "''Regele''" ("The King") to Romanian supporters. Alexandru Maxim
Alexandru Iulian Maxim (; born 8 July 1990) is a Romanian professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Süper Lig club Beşiktaş, on loan from Gaziantep, and the Romania national team. Maxim recorded his professional debut for the reserve team of Espanyol in 2009, and also had a loan spell at Badalona before returning to Romania with Pandurii Târgu Jiu in 2011. His display prompted a move to Germany at the start of 2013, where he amassed Bundesliga totals of 140 games and 14 goals representing VfB Stuttgart and Mainz 05. After seven years in the latter country, Maxim joined Turkish side Gaziantep in 2020, initially on loan. Florin Andone
Florin Andone (; born 11 April 1993) is a Romanian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Segunda División club Eldense. Raised in Spain from the age of 12, Andone began competing in the country's lower divisions before making his professional debut for La Liga team Córdoba in 2014. Two years later, he joined Deportivo La Coruña, and after another two years earned a move to Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion. Following loans at Galatasaray and Cádiz, Andone signed with Las Palmas in 2022. Claudiu Keșerü
Claudiu Andrei Keșerü (; born 2 December 1986) is a Romanian professional footballer who plays mainly as a striker for Liga I club UTA Arad. After starting out at hometown side FC Oradea, he soon moved to Nantes in 2003. Over the course of nearly eleven years in France, Keșerü represented five teams and amassed Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 totals of 240 appearances and 67 goals. In 2014, he returned to his native country by signing a contract with defending champions FCSB. Keșerü also had a brief spell with Al-Gharafa in Qatar, before moving to Ludogorets Razgrad in the summer of 2015, where he netted more than 110 times in the Bulgarian First League. Denis Alibec
Denis Alibec (born 5 January 1991) is a Romanian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Liga I club Farul Constanța and the Romania national team. Alibec began his senior career at Farul Constanța, and at age 18 was signed by Italian club Inter Milan. He only made two Serie A appearances and was loaned out several times, before being brought back to Romania by Astra Giurgiu. He became a regular starter and goalscorer with the latter, and also aided it in winning its first national title in the 2015–16 season. This inspired a move to his former youth team FCSB in 2017, but Alibec transferred back to Astra after only one and a half years. Cristian Ionuț Săpunaru (born 5 April 1984) is a Romanian professional footballer who plays mainly as a centre-back for Liga I club Rapid București, which he captains. He can also be deployed as a right-back or a defensive midfielder. Săpunaru began his senior career with Național București in 2002, before going on to make a name for himself at Rapid București four years later. Alexandru Mihail Băluță (; born 13 September 1993) is a Romanian professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder or a forward for Hungarian club Puskás Akadémia. Ștefan Daniel Radu (; born 22 October 1986) is a Romanian professional footballer who plays as a left-back or a centre-back for Serie A club Lazio. Constantin Valentin Budescu (; born 19 February 1989) is a Romanian professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder or a forward for Liga I club Petrolul Ploiești. He began his senior career at Petrolul Ploiești, amassing over 150 appearances throughout the course of six seasons before transferring to rival team Astra Ploiești in 2011. Anton Ciprian Tătărușanu (; born 9 February 1986) is a Romanian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for club AC Milan. He started his senior career in Romania with Juventus București, going on to represent Gloria Bistrița and FC Steaua București in the country. Tătărușanu made over 180 appearances in all competitions for the latter, and in the summer of 2014 joined Fiorentina on a free transfer. Marius George Țucudean (; born 30 April 1991) is a Romanian former professional footballer who played as a striker. He made his senior debut with UTA Arad in 2009, and throughout his career represented among others Dinamo București, FCSB, Viitorul Constanța and CFR Cluj, winning a combined ten domestic trophies. Țucudean also had two unsuccessful spells abroad, with Standard Liège and Charlton Athletic respectively. Florinel Coman
Florinel Teodor Coman (; born 10 April 1998) is a Romanian professional footballer who plays as a winger for Liga I club FCSB and the Romania national team. After starting out at Viitorul Constanța and winning a national championship in his third season at the club, Coman signed with FCSB in August 2017 for an eventual transfer fee of €3 million.
