The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Nampula ( la, Nampulen(sis)) is an archbishopric and the metropolitan see for one of the three ecclesiastical provinces in Mozambique in Africa, yet still depends on the missionary Roman Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. Francisco Chimoio, O.F.M. Cap. (born 6 December 1947), is a Mozambican Roman Catholic bishop. He has been the Roman Catholic archbishop of Maputo, Mozambique, since 2003. Life Chimoio was born in Búzi-Sofala, Mozambique. He was ordained a Roman Catholic priest on 9 December 1979. Pope John Paul II appointed him to the position of bishop of Pemba on 5 December 2000. The bishop's consecration took place on 25 February 2001. On 22 February 2003, John Paul II elevated him to the position of archbishop of Maputo; he is the head of the catholic church in Mozambique. Rádio Renascença, also known as 'RR' or just 'Renascença' (Renaissance in English), is a private, commercial radio station in Portugal, owned by various organizations within the Portuguese Catholic Church: among others, the Patriarchate of Lisbon. Ansar Al-Sunna (Mozambique)
Al-Shabaab ( ar, الشباب, lit=The Youth), also known as Ansar al-Sunna ( ar, أنصار السنة, links=no, ) or Ahlu Sunna Wal Jammah, is an Islamist militant group active in Cabo Delgado Province, Mozambique. Since October 2017, it has waged an insurgency in the region, seeking to undermine the secular FRELIMO government and establish an Islamic state. It has occasionally captured territory from the government and has been accused of committing atrocities against civilians. Insurgency In Cabo Delgado
The insurgency in Cabo Delgado is an ongoing Islamist insurgency in Cabo Delgado Province, Mozambique, mainly fought between militant Islamists and jihadists attempting to establish an Islamic state in the region, and Mozambican security forces. Civilians have been the main targets of terrorist attacks by Islamist militants. The main insurgent faction is Ansar al-Sunna, a native extremist faction with tenuous international connections. From mid-2018, the Islamic State's Central Africa Province has allegedly become active in northern Mozambique as well, and claimed its first attack against Mozambican security forces in June 2019. In addition, bandits have exploited the rebellion to carry out raids. Luiz Fernando Lisboa C.P. (born 23 December 1955) is a Brazilian Catholic prelate who has served as Archbishop of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim since 2021. He was previously Bishop of Pemba in Mozambique from 2013 to 2021. Biography Lisboa was born in Valença, in state of Rio de Janeiro, the ninth of the twelve children of Benedita de Oliveira Pereira and Francisco Lopes Pereira Lisboa. At the age of nine, he and his family moved to Osasco, São Paulo, where he spent most of his adolescence. At 19, Lisboa entered the Seminary at St. Gabriel of the Congregation of the Passion on 4 August 1975.
