Latin liturgical rites, or Western liturgical rites, are Catholic rites of public worship employed by the Latin Church, the largest particular church ''sui iuris'' of the Catholic Church, that originated in Europe where the Latin language once dominated. Its language is now known as Ecclesiastical Latin. The most used rite is the Roman Rite. The Latin rites were for many centuries no less numerous than the liturgical rites of the Eastern Catholic Churches, Eastern autonomous particular churches. Their number is now much reduced. Victor Antonio Tamayo Betancourt (born 20 July 1937 in Anori) is a Roman Catholic, Colombian clergyman and auxiliary bishop in Barranquilla and titular bishop of Voncariana in North Africa.
