Romain Le Gac
Romain Le Gac (born 31 May 1995) is a French-Canadian ice dancer who currently represents Canada with his partner and wife Marie-Jade Lauriault, in which capacity he is the 2022 Skate America bronze medalist. Lauriault and Le Gac initially represented his birth country of France upon partnering in 2014, winning four silver medals at the French Championships and a national junior title, and representing France at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Internationally they won four Challenger medals, including gold at the 2019 CS Warsaw Cup, before switching to represent her birth country of Canada in the summer of 2021. He previously competed with Estelle Elizabeth, winning two junior national titles and representing France at the inaugural Winter Youth Olympics. ISU Challenger Series
The ISU Challenger Series is a series of international figure skating competitions. Established by the International Skating Union in the 2014–15 season, it is a group of senior-level events ranked below the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating. Each event consists of at least three disciplines out of four ( men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing), and is required to take place between August 1 and December 15. The ISU Challenger Series Synchronized Skating is a separate competition series in the discipline of synchronized skating. Ice dance (sometimes referred to as ice dancing) is a discipline of figure skating that historically draws from ballroom dancing. It joined the World Figure Skating Championships in 1952, and became a Winter Olympic Games medal sport in 1976. According to the International Skating Union (ISU), the governing body of figure skating, an ice dance team consists of one woman and one man. Ice dance, like pair skating, has its roots in the "combined skating" developed in the 19th century by skating clubs and organizations and in recreational social skating. The Mixed-NOCs participation at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics, mixed NOC team figure skating competition of the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics was held at the Olympiahalle (Innsbruck), Olympiahalle in Innsbruck.
