The 100 Greatest Albums of National Rock ( Spanish: ''Los 100 mejores discos del rock nacional'') is a 2007 special issue of ''Rolling Stone Argentina'', the local edition of the American magazine that is published monthly by S.A. La Nación. It was made available in newsstands on April 3. That month, ''Rolling Stone Argentina'' was issued as a special "double anniversary edition", with the list being released alongside the magazine's usual publication. The issue celebrated the forty years of Argentine rock and the nine years of ''Rolling Stone Argentina''. In 2013, a revised "bookazine" edition of the list was released, incorporating more albums from the 2000s. The list focuses on Argentine rock, which is locally known as ''rock nacional'' (Spanish for "national rock") and is considered a distinct style of rock music, born in the late 1960s in Buenos Aires at a time when the city was experiencing a cultural blossoming. ''Artaud'' (; commonly pronounced by Hispanophones) is the third and final studio album credited to Argentine rock band Pescado Rabioso, released in October 1973 on Talent-Microfón. It is essentially the second solo album by singer-songwriter Luis Alberto Spinetta, who used the group's name despite their disbandment earlier that year. The album is named after and dedicated to French poet Antonin Artaud, and was conceived as a reaction to his writings. The album's original packaging is famous for its odd shape, which the record label initially resisted. Spinetta presented Artaud with two morning shows at the Teatro Astral on Avenida Corrientes, accompanied only by his acoustic guitar. ''Oktubre'' is the second studio album by Argentine rock band Patricio Rey y sus Redonditos de Ricota, released in 1986. It is the band's last album to feature to Piojo Ávalos, Tito D'Aviero and Willy Crook as band members, who left the band after the tour between late 1986 and early 1987. In 2007, the Argentine edition of ''Rolling Stone'' ranked it fourth on its list of " The 100 Greatest Albums of National Rock". Background The album cover and its concept are inspired by the 1917 October Revolution, while the sound incorporates elements of post-punk influence in the 1980s New wave imposed by groups such as The Cure, Joy Division and The Police. Manal
Manal was an Argentine rock group formed in 1968. Together with Almendra and Los Gatos, they are considered founders of Argentine rock. The band members were Claudio Gabis on guitar, Javier Martínez on drums and vocals, and Alejandro Medina on bass and vocals. Martínez was the band's lead vocalist and leading songwriter. Trajectory 1968–1969: Formation The band grew out of the mythic ''"La Cueva"'' club. Martínez was a regular, and Gabis played guitar with several bands, including Miguel Abuelo's ''Los Abuelos''. Gabis was not keen on joining a band regularly as he was committed to college, but eventually was persuaded by Martínez, and Manal was born.
