Humphry Rolleston
Sir Humphry Davy Rolleston, 1st Baronet, (21 June 1862 – 23 September 1944) was a prominent English physician. Rolleston was the son of George Rolleston (Linacre Professor of Physiology at Oxford) and Grace Davy, daughter of John Davy and niece of Sir Humphry Davy, Bt (chemist). He was educated at Marlborough College, proceeded to St John's College, Cambridge and graduated in Natural Sciences in 1886. After clinical training at St Bartholomew's Hospital, London he qualified MB (Cambridge) in 1888 and MD in 1892. Public service and honours In 1891 he became Physician at St George's Hospital, Hyde Park Corner, London and continued there until 1919. This period, however, was interrupted by his service during the Second Boer War, where he served with the Imperial Yeomanry Hospital, Pretoria. Roger De Rolleston
Roger de Rolleston was a Priest in the Roman Catholic Church. Career Between 1174 and 1184 it is believed that Roger was a clerk to Archbishop of Canterbury Richard of Dover. In or after 1186 he was given by Archbishop of Canterbury Baldwin of Forde into the service of Bishop of Lincoln Hugh of Avalon during which time he worked with Robert de Bedford who is recorded as vice Bishop to Hugh of Avalon. He was Archdeacon of Leicester but in 1195 he became Dean of Lincoln The Dean of Lincoln is the head of the Chapter of Lincoln Cathedral in the city of Lincoln, England in the Church of England Diocese of Lincoln. Mary Rolleston
Elizabeth Mary Rolleston (30 March 1845 – 4 June 1940), known as Mary Rolleston, was a New Zealand homemaker, political hostess and community leader. She was born as Elizabeth Mary Brittan in Castleton, Dorset, England in 1845. Her parents were Joseph Brittan, a surgeon and newspaper proprietor, and Elizabeth Mary Brittan (née Chandler). She had five siblings, two of whom died in infancy and a fortnight after the birth and then death of the last child in 1849, her mother herself died. The surviving siblings were Joseph (Joe), Arthur, and Frances (Frank). Mary Brittan married William Rolleston on 24 May 1865 at Holy Trinity Avonside. She died in Christchurch on 4 June 1940. Lancelot Rolleston (20 July 1785 – 18 May 1862) was a British Conservative Party politician. He was elected unopposed as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Southern division of Nottinghamshire at the 1837 general election. John Christopher Rolleston (4 December 1877 – 22 May 1956) was a Reform Party Member of Parliament in New Zealand. Early life Rolleston was born in Christchurch on 4 December 1877,See talk page the son of Mary Rolleston. His father, the last Superintendent of the Canterbury Province, William Rolleston was in Wellington for the third session of the 6th Parliament and intended to be home in the second week of December, but it is likely that he will have missed the birth, as his seventh child (of nine in total) was born a week early. Sir John Fowke Lancelot Rolleston (26 March 1848 – 9 April 1919) was a British Conservative Party politician. Rolleston was the eldest son of Rev. William Lancelot Rolleston, vicar of Great Dalby and Scraptoft, and his wife, Mary Sophia Fowke, daughter of Sir Frederick Gustavus Fowke, 1st Baronet. He was educated at Repton School and King's College London. He was the leader of the Conservatives in Leicester. Following two defeats at the polls, he was elected as a Member of Parliament for Leicester in 1900; the seat then having two MPs. He sat until 1906 when he was again defeated by the Liberal-Labour coalition. At the January 1910 general election, he became the Conservative Member of Parliament for Hertford and held the seat until 1916. He was knighted in 1897. Rolleston was also a prominent freemason. John Davy Rolleston FSA FRCP (25 February 1873 – 13 March 1946) was an English physician and folklorist, who published extensively on infectious diseases and the history of medicine. Overshadowed by his brother, Sir Humphry Rolleston, he established himself as an epidemiologist, gave the Fitzpatrick Lecture at the Royal College of Physicians in 1935-1936 and became involved in numerous other learned societies and medical bodies, including The Royal Society of Medicine and the Society for the Study and Cure of Inebriety. Jeremy Rolleston (born 13 December 1972) is an Australian sportsman who played rugby professionally before changing to bobsleigh. He competed for Australia from 1999 to 2006, then returned in 2008 to prepare to compete in the 2010 Winter Olympics. Competing in two Winter Olympics, he finished 22nd in the two-man event at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. James Rolleston
James Rolleston (born 8 June 1997) is a New Zealand actor known for the films ''Boy'' and '' The Dark Horse''. The latter was released in October 2014 and had its world premiere at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival on 4 September. Film career Rolleston made his screen debut in the Taika Waititi film ''Boy'', playing the main role of the child who idolises his father.
