Rolla Anderson
Rolla Leonard Anderson (August 1, 1920 – April 25, 2018) was an American football and basketball coach. He served as the head football at Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan for 14 seasons, from 1953 to 1966, compiling a record of 56–56–1. Anderson was also the head basketball coach at Kalamazoo for two seasons, from 1953 to 1955, tallying a mark of 12–25. Southeast Missouri State Redhawks Football
The Southeast Missouri State Redhawks football program is the intercollegiate American football team for the Southeast Missouri State University located in the U.S. state of Missouri. The team competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) and are members of the Ohio Valley Conference. The school's first football team was fielded in 1902. The team plays its home games at the 11,015-seat Houck Stadium. They are coached by Tom Matukewicz. History Southeast Missouri State first competed in football in 1904. In 1912, the school joined the Missouri Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA), which later joined the NCAA as a Division II conference. The football team had its first known head coach, J.F. 1953 College Football Season
The 1953 college football season finished with the Maryland Terrapins capturing the AP, INS, and UPI national championship after Notre Dame held the top spot for the first nine weeks. The No. 4 Oklahoma Sooners defeated Maryland in the Orange Bowl, but there was no further polling after the November 30 results were released. However, Notre Dame was selected as the National Champions by 10 other polls and the Oklahoma Sooners received first in two polls. However, despite the team receiving National Championship rings, the University of Notre Dame does not recognize this title due to their policy of only recognizing AP or coaches' poll titles during the polling era (1936–present). Maryland was also the first champion of the Atlantic Coast Conference, which had been formed earlier in 1953 by seven colleges formerly with the Southern Conference.
