Rolf Zetterström
Rolf Zetterström (24 August 1920 – 29 September 2011) was a Swedish pediatrician. He was Professor of Pediatrics at the Karolinska Institute fra 1962 until his retirement in 1986. Zetterström also had a central role in the institutions awarding the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Career He graduated as a physician at the Karolinska Institute in 1940 and earned his Licentiate's degree in 1944 and his doctorate in 1951, also at the Karolinska Institute. He became Professor of Pediatrics at University of Gothenburg in 1958, at the age of 38. In 1962 he became Professor of Pediatrics at the Karolinska Institute. He was also director of the Crown Princess Louise's Hospital for Children in Stockholm and later head of the children's clinic at Saint Göran Hospital from 1970 to 1986, and was involved in efforts to promote children's health in several developing countries in Africa and elsewhere. ''Acta Paediatrica'' is a monthly peer-reviewed medical journal covering paediatrics. It is published by Wiley-Blackwell on behalf of the Foundation Acta Paediatrica, based at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden. History The journal was established in 1921 and renamed ''Acta Paediatrica Scandinavica'' in 1964, returning to its original title in 1992. The journal was conceived as a general pediatrics journal and its original aim was to "give studies from the Nordic countries a worldwide audience." Thus the journal was originally trilingual, publishing papers in English, German, and French, at a time when most medical journals were still published in national languages; the journal later became an English-only journal. Olof Palme
Sven Olof Joachim Palme (; ; 30 January 1927 – 28 February 1986) was a Swedish politician and statesman who served as Prime Minister of Sweden from 1969 to 1976 and 1982 to 1986. Palme led the Swedish Social Democratic Party from 1969 until his assassination in 1986. A longtime protégé of Prime Minister Tage Erlander, he became Prime Minister of Sweden in 1969, heading a Privy Council Government. He left office after failing to form a government after the 1976 general election, which ended 40 years of unbroken rule by the Social Democratic Party. Solstickan
Solstickan is a Sweden, Swedish Charitable organization, charity foundation founded in 1936 for aiding children in need. Its ruling board is appointed by the Swedish government. The money for the foundation is gathered through the sales of the Solstickan matchbox or lighter which over the years have become the most well known and purchased matchbox in Sweden. The art work of the matchbox was made in 1936 by the artist Einar Nerman and is a painting of his own son. Today, the money from the Solstickan foundation goes mostly to science and research in child diseases.
