Bob Merrick (sailor)
Robert 'Bob' Merrick (23 July 1893 – 24 October 1981) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Fitzroy in the VFL. Personal life Merrick was born at Darlinghurst, New South Wales, the son of Robert and Lillian Rose Merrick. He was a printer by trade. He married Minnie Ruth Duncan in 1917 at Redfern, New South Wales, and they had two children, John Robert and Kathleen Helen. He was survived by each of them when he died on 24 October 1981. Playing Merrick was originally from Sydney and prior to joining Fitzroy played his football with Port Melbourne, finishing the 1915 VFA season as the league's leading goalkicker. He debuted for Fitzroy in 1919 and playing as a full-forward, topped Fitzroy's goalkicking every year until he left in 1922, with 42, 53, 32 and 47 goals respectively. Morgan Reeser
Morgan Irwin Reeser (born November 14, 1962) is a sailor from the United States, who competed in two Summer Olympics: 1992 and 1996. He won the silver medal in 1992 with Kevin Burnham in the Men's 470 class. He won the ICSA Coed Dinghy National Championship and was named College Sailor of the Year twice, in 1983 and 1984. Reeser coached Sofia Bekatorou and Emilia Tsoulfa of Greece to an Olympic gold medal in the women's 470 class in 1992. He also coached Luke Patience and Stuart Bithell of Great Britain to an Olympic silver medal in men's 470 class in 2012. John Edward Merricks (16 February 1971 – 15 October 1997) was an English sailor. He represented Great Britain at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, where he received the silver medal in the 470 class along with his sailing partner, Ian Walker. Robert Alexander Little, (19 July 1895 – 27 May 1918), a World War I fighter pilot, is generally regarded as the most successful Australian flying ace, with an official tally of forty-seven victories. Born in Victoria, he travelled to England in 1915 and learned to fly at his own expense before joining the Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS). Posted to the Western Front in June 1916, he flew Sopwith Pups, Triplanes and Camels with No. 8 Squadron RNAS, achieving thirty-eight victories within a year and earning the Distinguished Service Order and Bar, the Distinguished Service Cross and Bar, and the French Croix de Guerre. Helena Lucas MBE (born 29 April 1975) is a British Paralympic sailor. Personal life Lucas was born on 29 April 1975 in Redhill, Surrey, England. She was born with a defect in both of her thumbs which makes her eligible to compete in Paralympic events. In 1996 she graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Yacht and Power Craft Design from Southampton Solent University. In 2013 she was awarded an honorary doctorate in sport from Southampton Solent University today in recognition of her outstanding contribution to sport and an honorary doctorate degree from Bournemouth University.
