Roland Niczuly
Roland Csaba Niczuly (born 21 September 1995) is a Romanian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Liga I club Sepsi OSK, a club on which he serves as captain. Career A youth product of KSE Târgu Secuiesc and Universitatea Cluj, Niczuly was sent out on loan by the latter to Unirea Tărlungeni for the 2014–15 season. He made his senior debut on 30 August 2014, at age 19, in a 2–1 Liga II win over Olt Slatina. Niczuly was an undisputed starter during his stint in Brașov County, with the club finishing fourth in its series. After his loan deal expired, Niczuly totaled 19 appearances in all competitions for Universitatea Cluj in the 2015–16 campaign. In the summer of 2016, he moved to Sepsi OSK, which immediately gained promotion to the Liga I by finishing second in the league. Sepsi OSK Sfântu Gheorghe
Asociația Club Sportiv Sepsi OSK Sfântu Gheorghe, commonly known as Sepsi OSK (), Sepsi Sfântu Gheorghe (), or simply Sepsi, is a Romanian professional football club based in Sfântu Gheorghe, Covasna County, that competes in the Liga I. Founded in 2011, it achieved promotion to the top tier in six years by quickly climbing through the Romanian league system. Sepsi thus became the first team from Covasna—a county with a majority of Székely ethnics—to play in the Liga I. It also qualified for two Cupa României finals, in the 2019–20 and 2021–22 Cupa României, 2021–22 seasons, claiming the latter after a 2–1 defeat of FC Voluntari, Voluntari. Fotbal Club FCSB (), commonly known as FCSB, is a Romanian professional Association football, football club based in Bucharest. It has spent its entire history in the top flight of the Romanian football league system, Romanian league system, the Liga I. 2019–20 Liga I
The 2019–20 Liga I (also known as Casa Liga 1 for sponsorship reasons) was the 102nd season of the Liga I, the top professional league for Romanian association football clubs, which began in July 2019 and was scheduled to end in June 2020. Suspended in March 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic in Romania, the season resumed on 13 June and effectively ended on 5 August. It was the fifth season to take place since the play-off/play-out rule had been introduced. CFR Cluj were two-time defending champions, and they successfully defended their title once more. Universitatea Craiova contented for the trophy until the final fixture of the championship play-offs, and ultimately finished as runner-ups, while FCSB were unable to claim a top three spot in the table for the first time since the 2010–11 season. 2017–18 Liga I
The 2017–18 Liga I (also known as Liga 1 Betano for sponsorship reasons) was the 100th season of the Liga I, the top professional league for Romanian association football clubs. The season began on 14 July 2017 and ended on 2 June 2018, being the third to take place since the play-off/play-out format has been introduced. Defending champions Viitorul Constanța came fourth. CFR Cluj became the new champions in the last fixture of the play-off, clinching their fourth league title after finishing one point above FCSB. Juventus București and Sepsi OSK entered as the promoted teams from the 2016–17 Liga II, but only the latter managed to avoid relegation. Since Romania dropped from 15th to 17th in the UEFA association coefficient rankings, only the title winner qualified for the UEFA Champions League. The 2016–17 Liga II was the 77th season of the Liga II, the second tier of the Romanian football league system. The season began on 6 August 2016. A total of 20 teams contested the league. It was the first Liga II season with a single series. The season was played in a round-robin tournament. Fotbal Club Voluntari (), commonly known as FC Voluntari or simply Voluntari, is a Romanian professional football club based in Voluntari, Ilfov County, which competes in the Liga I.
