Roland Hislop
Roland William Hislop (20 April 1884 – 30 May 1948) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Hislop was born in Brisbane, Queensland, the son of William Hislop and his wife Alice (née Toyne) and educated in Brisbane. He was a well-known furniture manufacturer and after he was finished in politics worked as a welfare officer with the Queensland Apprenticeships Committee. The National Party of Australia – Queensland (NPA-Q), commonly known as Queensland Nationals, or the National Party of Queensland, was the Queensland-state branch of the National Party of Australia (NPA) until 2008. Prior to 1974, it was known as the Country Party. Country And Progressive National Party
The Country and Progressive National Party was a short-lived conservative political party in the Australian state of Queensland. Formed in 1925, it combined the state's conservative forces in a single party and held office between 1929 and 1932 under the leadership of Arthur Edward Moore. Following repeated election defeat it split into separate rural and urban wings in 1936. History It was created in 1925 as the result of a merger between the state's two conservative parties, the United Party (the Queensland branch of the Nationalist Party) and the Country Party, in an attempt to end a decade of Labor domination in the state. James Kenny (politician)
James Alexander Charles Kenny (6 December 1898 – 24 July 1954) was a plumber and politician in Queensland, Australia. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Kenny was born in Cairns, Queensland, the son of James Kenny Snr. and his wife Rosena Cathleen (née Bollard). He was educated at Cairns State School and served in the First Australian Imperial Force in 1917–1918 and was wounded in France in 1918. After World War I he was engaged in mixed businesses at Peeramon, Malanda, and Mareeba. After state politics he was the prices officer in Cairns and for his last six years conducted the business of plumber. Mt Thompson Crematorium
Mount Thompson Memorial Gardens and Crematorium (formerly Brisbane Crematorium) includes a heritage-listed chapel (the West Chapel), columbaria and other features. It is located on north-western slopes of Mount Thompson in Brisbane, Australia. The street address is Nursery Road in Holland Park. It was established in 1934 as the first crematorium in Queensland.
