Roland Dupree Dance Academy
Roland Dupree Dance Academy was a major dance centre founded by Roland Dupree in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, Hollywood located on third Street just west of Crescent Heights on the North Side of the Street. It drew the interest of dancers from around the world due to the academy’s large number of instructors who worked in fields such as Television, Stage and Film. Examples of which are Carrie Hamilton (deceased daughter of comedian and actress, Carol Burnett) and Michael Rooney (son of acting legend Mickey Rooney) who taught classes there in the 1970s. Roland Dupree
Roland Dupree (born Roland Furtado, September 20, 1925 - June 21, 2015) was an American actor, dancer, and choreographer. He is best known for founding the Roland Dupree Dance Academy and his work as the action model for Walt Disney's ''Peter Pan (1953 film), Peter Pan''. Early life Roland Dupree was born on September 20, 1925, in Fall River, Massachusetts, to Antone Furtado of Portuguese descent and Theresa Dupuis, of French Canadian descent. Joe Bennett (1889 - August 31, 1967) was an American vaudeville eccentric dancer. Harland Dixon described him as " avinglegs of iron ... He only had a few routines but they were gifts from heaven - the greatest comedy dancer I ever saw." Biography He was born in 1889 in Charleston, South Carolina. He started his dancing career with the William S. West Minstrels. He debuted in vaudeville in 1917 at the Colonial Theatre in an act with Edward Richards. The two were said to have "walked away with the entire show". The two were headliners at the Palace Theatre within the next year. Carol Connor
Carol Connor (1950 – February 20, 2004) was the first female circuit court, first appeal court, and first supreme court judge in South Carolina. Connor was born in Kingstree, South Carolina in 1950. She received her juris doctor at the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1976. Connor married Attorney and state legislator Palmer Freeman. She became the first female judge for the South Carolina Circuit Court in 1988 for Richland and Kershaw counties. Karen Voight (born 1955) is an American fitness expert. She has produced approximately 30 exercise videos, a book, ''Voight: Precision Training for Body and Mind'', and a health column in the Los Angeles Times. Voight began to study ballet at age 3.
