Roisin McAuley
Roisin McAuley is a BBC Radio Ulster and currently presents Sunday Sequence. Biography She grew up in Cookstown in County Tyrone went to a convent boarding school, and then to Queen's University Belfast to study history. She joined BBC Northern Ireland in 1969 and was the broadcaster's first Catholic female newsreader and announcer. She went on to become a reporter for BBC programmes such as ''Spotlight'', ''Newsnight'', ''Panorama (TV series), Panorama'' and ''File on 4''. She has also produced and directed television documentaries for ITV Network, ITV and Channel 4 and written and presented programmes on BBC Radio 3 and 4. McAuley's first two novels, ''Singing Bird'' and ''Meeting Point'', were sold at auction to Headline (world rights) who published in 2004 and 2005. The US rights sold to HarperCollins, Dutch rights to House of Books and the German rights to Droemer. BBC Radio Ulster ( ga, BBC Raidió Uladh) is a Northern Irish radio station owned and operated by BBC Northern Ireland, a division of the BBC. It was established on New Year's Day 1975, replacing what had been an opt-out of BBC Radio 4. Tony McAuley
Tony McAuley (24 October 1939 – 7 June 2003) was a Northern Irish broadcaster, producer and musician. Biography Early life and education McAuley was born Anthony on 24 October 1939 to a chemist from Cookstown, County Tyrone. Tony was the nephew of the famous Glens of Antrim painter Charles McAuley and brother of author and broadcaster Roisin McAuley. He was educated at Saint Patrick's College, Armagh and later at Queen's University Belfast, where he was a founding member of the Glee Club together with fellow musicians such as Phil Coulter and Paul Brady. After qualifying as an English teacher he taught at St Patrick's College, Belfast before joining the BBC in 1972 in the Schools Department and writing and presenting Today and Yesterday. Charles McAuley
Charles McAuley (1910–1999) was an Irish painter. He was born on 15 March 1910 at Lubatavish, Glenaan, near Cushendall, the youngest of eight children in a family whose forebears had inhabited the Glens for many generations. McAuley pursued painting from an early age, in a rural area when farming was one of the main sources of life and income. He went on to become one of Ireland's most celebrated landscape and figurative painters, his work synonymous with the Glens of Antrim. A key encounter came in his mid-teens, when the artist James Humbert Craig, who was arts adjudicator at the Feis na nGleann, praised several of his youthful paintings, telling him: "You go ahead with this, and you'll do well."
