Rohit Havaldar
Rohit Rajendra Havaldar (born in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India) is an Indian swimmer. Rohit Havaldar has achieved many swimming records and has won many medals both at the nationals and state competitions. He competed in Telstra grand prix Olympic trials in July. He created history in 2010 when he won a medal for India in swimming at the South Asian games 2010. Rohit was awarded Maharashtra government's most prestigious " Shiv Chhatrapati Award" in 2015 by the then Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis and Sports Minister, Vinod Tawde. He was also awarded Karnataka government's most prestigious "Ekalavya Award" in 2006 by the then Governor of Karnataka, Late. Hansraj Bharadwaj and Sports Minister Shri. Gulihatty Shekhar. Backstroke Swimming
Backstroke or back crawl is one of the four swimming styles used in competitive events regulated by FINA, and the only one of these styles swum on the back. This swimming style has the advantage of easy breathing, but the disadvantage of swimmers not being able to see where they are going. It also has a different start from the other three competition swimming styles. The swimming style is similar to an ''upside down'' front crawl or freestyle. Both backstroke and front crawl are long-axis strokes. In individual medley backstroke is the second style swum; in the medley relay it is the first style swum. Shiv Chhatrapati Award
Shiv Chhatrapati Award (also known as Shiv Chhatrapati State Sports Award) is the highest prestigious sports award honoured annually to the players of Maharashtra by the Government of Maharashtra in India . The Government of Maharashtra instituted in 1969–70 a scheme for giving the Shiv Chhatrapati State Awards to sportsmen and women. The State Government has approved 24 games for men and 12 for women for this purpose. Prize and selection At present, the award carries a cash prize of 3 lakh, a memento with a headgear of Shiv Chhatrapati, a sword, and Jari Patka placed in a tray supported by a wooden stand and citation along with lifetime right to travel by MSRTC bus free of cost. The winners are selected by a committee appointed by the Government of Maharashtra.
