Rohini (film)
''Rohini'' is a 1953 Indian Tamil-language film directed by Kamal Ghosh and produced by S. Mukherjee. It is an adaptation of the Bengali novel ''Krishnakanter Uil'' by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee. The film was released on 5 November 1953 and failed commercially. Plot A wealthy ''zamindar'' writes a will disposing of his property. He does not want to give the entire estate to his son who despises his father. The ''zamindar'' wants to give a major portion of the estate to one of his close relatives and he has a sister named Rohini, who is a widow. The ''zamindar'' son persuades Rohini to steal the will and substitute it with a counterfeit. She promptly does so, but after learning of the intentions of the ''zamindar'' son, she changes her decision and tries to replace the counterfeit with the original. Kamal Ghosh
Kamal Ghosh (1910–1983; often misspelled in film credits as Kamaal) was an Indian cinematographer and film director. Although a native of Kolkata, he was active primarily in Tamil and Telugu cinema. Early life Kamal Ghosh was the nephew of filmmaker, writer and actor Debaki Bose. He received training from his uncle, working with New Theaters, Calcutta (now Kolkata), in various aspects of film making. It was the lawyer turned filmmaker K. Subramanyam who brought Ghosh to South India. Career Ghosh started his career as an assistant cinematographer to Sailen Bose in the film ''Balayogini'' released in 1937. Ghosh worked as the cinematographer in-charge for the Tamil-language Jupiter Pictures film '' Anaadhai Penn'' (1938), directed by R. Prakash. A zamindar ( Hindustani: Devanagari: , ; Persian: , ) in the Indian subcontinent was an autonomous or semiautonomous ruler of a province. The term itself came into use during the reign of Mughals and later the British had begun using it as a native synonym for “estate”. The term means ''land owner'' in Persian. Typically hereditary, from whom they reserved the right to collect tax on behalf of imperial courts or for military purposes. During the period of British colonial rule in India many wealthy and influential zamindars were bestowed with princely and royal titles such as ''maharaja'' (great king), ''raja/rai'' (king) and ''nawab''. Chittajallu Rajeevalochana (15 August 1935 – 5 March 2013), better known as Rajasulochana, was an Indian classical dancer and actress. She has acted in more than 300 Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi language films. Early life She was born on 15 August 1935 in Vijayawada, Bezawada (now Vijayawada), in Andhra Pradesh.
