Rohingya Solidarity Organisation
The Rohingya Solidarity Organisation (RSO) is a Rohingya insurgent group and political organisation. It was founded in 1982 following a large scale military operation conducted by the Tatmadaw (Myanmar Armed Forces). The group discontinued its armed rebellion in 1998 but rearmed itself following the 2021 Myanmar coup d'état. History 1990s In the early 1990s, the military camps of the Rohingya Solidarity Organisation (RSO) were located in the Cox's Bazar District in southern Bangladesh. RSO possessed a significant arsenal of light machine-guns, AK-47 assault rifles, RPG-2 rocket launchers, claymore mines and explosives, according to a field report conducted by correspondent Bertil Lintner in 1991. Rohingya Patriotic Front
The Rohingya Patriotic Front (RPF) was a political organisation headquartered in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. The RPF had a small and poorly armed insurgent army of 70 fighters, who were active along the Bangladesh–Burma border and in northern Arakan, Burma (present-day Rakhine State, Myanmar). The goal of the RPF was to create an autonomous Muslim zone for the Rohingya people. Muhammad Jafar Habib, a graduate of Rangoon University and a native of the town of Buthidaung, was the leader of the RPF. He was formerly the secretary of the Rohingya Liberation Party (RLP). 2021 Myanmar Coup D'état
A coup d'état in Myanmar began on the morning of 1 February 2021, when democratically elected members of the country's ruling party, the National League for Democracy (NLD), were deposed by the Tatmadaw—Myanmar's military—which then vested power in a military junta. Acting president Myint Swe proclaimed a year-long state of emergency and declared power had been transferred to Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Min Aung Hlaing. Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh mostly refer to Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMNs) from Myanmar who are living in Bangladesh. The Rohingya people have experienced ethnic and religious persecution in Myanmar for decades. Hundreds of thousands have fled to other countries in Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, Indonesia, and Philippines. The majority have escaped to Bangladesh, where there are two official, registered refugee camps. Recently violence in Myanmar has escalated, so the number of refugees in Bangladesh has increased rapidly. Rohingya National Army
The Rohingya National Army (RNA) was a Rohingya insurgent group active in northern Rakhine State, Myanmar. It was the armed wing of the Arakan Rohingya National Organisation. History On 28 October 1998, remnants of the Rohingya Solidarity Organisation's armed wing and the Arakan Rohingya Islamic Front merged and formed the Arakan Rohingya National Organisation (ARNO), with the RNA as the group's armed wing. The RNA launched a joint operation with the Arakan Army on 5 April 2001, killing five Myanmar Army soldiers and wounding 12 others. On 27 May 2001, the RNA raided a Myanmar Army military camp at the village of Bodala, north of Maungdaw, near the Bangladesh–Myanmar border. Arakan Rohingya Islamic Front
The Arakan Rohingya Islamic Front (ARIF) was a Rohingya insurgent group active in northern Rakhine State, Myanmar (Burma). The group was made up of Rohingya fighters led by Nurul Islam, a Yangon-educated lawyer. The group was created after uniting the remnants of the Rohingya Patriotic Front (RPF) and a defecting faction of the Rohingya Solidarity Organisation (RSO) that was under the command of Nurul Islam. On 28 October 1998, the ARIF merged with the RSO and formed the Arakan Rohingya National Organisation (ARNO), operating in-exile in Cox's Bazar. The Naf River ( bn, নাফ নদী ''Naf Nodi'' ; my, နတ်မြစ် ; rki, ) is an international river marking the border of southeastern Bangladesh and northwestern Myanmar. Maungdaw Township ( my, မောင်တောမြို့နယ် ) is a township of Maungdaw District in Rakhine State, Myanmar (Burma). The principal town is Maungdaw.
