Roger Wendt
Roger F. Wendt (December 31, 1933 – March 30, 2011) was a Democratic member of the Iowa House of Representatives, representing the 2nd District from 2003 until 2011, though he stepped down from the Iowa House in February 2010 due to serious illness. He died on March 30, 2011, from lung cancer. Wendt received his BA from Wayne State College, his MA from the University of South Dakota, and his Ed.D. from the University of South Dakota. Wendt was elected in 2002 and re-elected in 2006 with 4,212 votes, running unopposed. In 2008 he won reelection by a margin of only 280 votes over Republican opponent Rick Bertrand. Steve Warnstadt
Steven Henning "Steve" Warnstadt (born August 2, 1967) was the Iowa State Senator from the 1st District. A Democrat, he has served in the Iowa Senate from 2003 until 2011. He received his BA from Drake University and his MA from Temple University, and is serving as an adjunct instructor with Western Iowa Tech Community College and as an intelligence officer with the Iowa Army National Guard. Warnstadt served on several committees in the Iowa Senate: the Appropriations committee; the Judiciary committee; the Transportation committee; the Veterans Affairs committee, where he is vice chair; and the Commerce committee, where he is chair. He also serves as vice-chair of the Transportation, Infrastructure, and Capitals Appropriations Subcommittee. The ''Sioux City Journal'' is the daily newspaper and website of Sioux City, Iowa. Founded in 1864, the publication now covers northwestern Iowa and portions of Nebraska and South Dakota. Rick Bertrand (born December 22, 1969) was the Iowa State Senator from the 7th District. A Republican, he has served in the Iowa Senate between 2010 and 2019. After graduating from Bishop Heelan High School, he attended Iowa Central Community College before obtaining a degree at the University of Northern Iowa in Political Science. He earned his master's degree in Organizational Leadership from Bellevue University in 2018.
