Roger Strøm
Roger Strøm (born 28 July 1966 in Sandefjord) is a Norwegian speed skater. Strøm was Norway's best speed skating sprinter during the 1990s. His best seasons were from 1994 to 1997. During the 1994 Olympics he finished 7th over 1000 metres, but failed to qualify in the 500 m. His best world ranking was 2nd in the World Sprint Speed Skating Championships for Men in Hamar in 1997, and 3rd and 2nd over 500 m at the World Single Distance Championships for Men The ''World Single Distances Speed Skating Championships'' are a series of speed skating competitions organised by the International Skating Union. Sandefjord () is a city and the most populous municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway. The municipality of Sandefjord was established on 1 January 1838. Idrettsforeningen Fram, better known as Fram Larvik to distinguish it from other sport clubs, is a sports club from Torstrand in Larvik, Norway. It has sections for association football, athletics, handball and speed skating. General history The club was founded on 15 January 1894. That makes Fram Norway's oldest existing association football club. It is often known as ''Fram Larvik'', mainly to distinguish it from IL Fram from Skatval. World Sprint Speed Skating Championships
The World Sprint Speed Skating Championships are annual speed skating championships. The championships are held over a two-day period, with the skaters racing one 500 m and one 1,000 m each day. Since the higher speeds towards the end of the race tend to favour the skater who skates the last outer lane, each skater starts both distances once in the inner lane and once in the outer lane. The times on those distances are then converted to points using the samalog system, and the skaters are then ranked according to the fewest points. The International Skating Union has organised the World Sprint Championships for Men and the World Sprint Championships for Women since 1970 and both are held at the same time and venue. The first two years (1970-1971), they were called the ''ISU Sprint Championships''.
