Roger Cruz
Roger Cruz (born Rogério da Cruz Kuroda on February 22, 1971, in São Paulo, Brazil) is a Brazilian comic book artist. Biography Cruz started his professional career as a letterer for Editora Abril, the Brazilian publishing house, for whom he lettered many Portuguese translations of American comics; then worked as a writer and art assistant for ''Mil Perigos'', a short-lived black and white comics magazine. When Art & Comics Studio first introduced Brazilian artists to the American comic book market, he was given the opportunity to work as an artist for Marvel Comics on the titles ''Ghost Rider'', ''Hulk'', ''Uncanny X-Men'', '' X-Men Alpha'', ''X-Patrol'', ''Generation X'', ''X-Calibre'', ''X-Factor'', ''X-Man'', '' Avengers: Timeslide'' and ''Silver Surfer''. He also worked for DC Comics, where he provided art for one issue of the comic book ''Batman Chronicles''. Swipe (comics)
Swipe is a comics term for the intentional copying of a cover, panel, or page from an earlier comic book or graphic novel without crediting the original artist. Artists Jack Kirby, Neal Adams, Hergé, and Jim Lee are common targets of swipes, though even those artists may not be above reproach; Kirby was known to have swiped from Hal Foster early in his career. Adoniran Barbosa, artistic name of João Rubinato (6 August 1910 – 23 November 1982), was a noted Brazilian São Paulo style samba singer and composer. Biography Early years João Rubinato was the seventh child of Francesco (Fernando) Rubinato and Emma Ricchini, Italian immigrants from Cavarzere (province of Venice). His parents had settled in Valinhos, a rural town in the state of São Paulo, about 70 km from the city of São Paulo. In 2010, two bridges were named after Rubinato: one located in Valinhos, Brazil, where the singer was born, and another in Cavarzere, Italy, where his parents came from. He is said to have been a rather reluctant student, and started working at an early age (which required falsifying his birth date).
