Roger Carter (darts Player)
Roger A. Carter (born October 28, 1961, in Sandusky, Ohio) is a former American professional darts player who plays in British Darts Organisation and Professional Darts Corporation events. Career Carter appeared in the BDO World Darts Championship four times with his best run being in 1997 when he made it to the Quarter finals, where he lost to Marshall James. Since 2000, Carter has played in PDC tournaments, playing mainly in their North American events, including the Las Vegas Desert Classic, the World Series of Darts and the US Open which replaced the World Series in 2007. Carter hit a nine-darter during the Desert Classic qualifiers but eventually failed to qualify for the event. He currently lives in Auburn, Alabama. Sandusky ( ) is a city in and the county seat of Erie County, Ohio, Erie County, Ohio, United States. Las Vegas Desert Classic
The Las Vegas Desert Classic was a darts tournament, organized by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) and was held each year in July from 2002 until 2009. Its original venue was the MGM Grand Casino and Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada from 2002 to 2005, but the tournament moved down the strip to the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino from 2006 to 2009. The tournament carried a total prize purse of £126,400 (approx US$250,000). Due to the time difference between the UK and US, the matches were played in the morning local time – which is prime-time evening in the UK where the tournament was broadcast live on Sky Sports. Initially Fox Sports World transmitted the tournament live but in recent years they broadcast recorded coverage in the United States. Partypoker.net became the first sponsors of the event in 2006. Ted Hankey
Edward Hankey (born 20 February 1968) is an English former professional darts player and convicted sex offender. Nicknamed "The Count", he won the BDO World Darts Championship in 2000, was runner-up in 2001, and won the title for a second time in 2009. He moved to the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) tour in 2012, but suffered a stroke while playing Michael van Gerwen at the 2012 Grand Slam of Darts, and took three months away from the sport to recuperate. He lost his PDC tour card in 2014, when he was 94th in the world rankings, and returned to the BDO, where he failed to impress in the latter years of his playing career. In 2016, he made his last appearance in the BDO World Darts Championship, exiting after a 0–3 first-round defeat. Hankey struggled financially in his later career and was declared bankrupt in 2018. Roland Scholten
Roland Scholten (born 11 January 1965) is a Dutch former professional darts player who played in events of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) and British Darts Organisation (BDO). Nicknamed The Tripod and The Flying Dutchman, Scholten turned full-time professional in 2001 having previously worked as a publican. Despite his Dutch nationality, Scholten speaks with a strong English accent having lived in Peterborough for several years. His considerable height and throwing technique means his darts hit the board at a considerably narrow angle. BDO career Scholten was runner-up in the 1992 Austrian Open, losing to Rod Harrington. The World Series of Darts was a professional darts tournament held from 19 to 21 May 2006 at the Mohegan Sun Casino, in Uncasville, Connecticut. It was the first and only edition of the competition, which was established by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) to capitalise on the potentially large North American market. Marshall James (born 4 October 1970 from Llanelli) is a retired Welsh professional darts player from Wales, whose only high-profile success in the game so far was being runner-up in the 1997 BDO World Championship, in his debut year at the championships. He is also known for his slow, deliberate throwing style. Career His 1997 Embassy World title run started with victory over Bill Burksfield in the first round 3–1.
