Roger Assaf
Roger Assaf (in Arabic روجيه عساف ; born in 1941) is a Lebanese playwright, director and actor. Biography Assaf was born in Lebanon, son of Joseph Assaf and Rosette Brunas. His father was Lebanese and his mother was French. He studied in Frères School, Furn el Chebbak, then in Frères Jemmayzé. He studied medicine at Université Saint Joseph (USJ) for four years, but left studies to consecrate himself to acting. At age 12, he landed an acting role in a play directed by Henri Khayyat. He established a university theatre center staging experimental plays. He collaborated in television stagings with Jean-Claude Boulos, Antoine Remé, Elias Matta and Antoine Machhour. In 1963, he received a grant from the French Embassy in Lebanon to study acting in Strasbourg, France. Jalal Khoury
Jalal Khoury (born in Beirut on 28 May 1933 – died on 3 December 2017) was a playwright, theatre director, comedian and artistic editor. First Lebanese playwright to be translated and performed internationally, his works are translated into German, English, Armenian, Iranian and French. His play "Al Rafiq Segean" ran for two consecutive seasons at the Volkstheater Rostock. Known for being the political theatre promoter in the 1960s Lebanon, Khoury is also an ethnoscenologist. He has participated in several colloquiums in Paris and Mexico about Ethnoscenology, a new discipline that he represents in Lebanon. Khoury is also the author of several papers on theatre and arts, in French and Arabic, published in Lebanon and abroad, as well as an amount of scenic adaptations and theory critical writings in French and Arabic, featured in several periodicals and catalogues. Hassan Alaa Eddin, commonly known as Chouchou or Shoushou (Arabic: شوشو) (26 February 1939 – 2 January 1975), was a Lebanese actor/singer/comedian. Rahbani Brothers
The Rahbani brothers (Arabic: الأخوان رحباني), Assi Rahbani (4 May 1923 – 21 June 1986) and Mansour Rahbani (1925 – 13 January 2009) were Lebanese sibling musicians, composers, songwriters, authors, and playwrights/dramatists, best known for their work with the singer Fairuz, Assi's wife. Nidal Al Achkar
Nidal Al Achkar (born 1941) is a Lebanese actress and theater director, hailed as "The Grande Dame of Lebanese Theater". Personal life Nidal was born in Dik El Mehdi, Matn District in Mount Lebanon Governorate. She studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. In 1967 she directed her first play in Beirut, and went on to found the Beirut Theatre Workshop in the late 1960s. Nidal Al Achkar is married to Fouad Naïm and is mother of Omar Naim and Khaled Naïm.
