Roger Adam
The Établissements aéronautiques Roger Adam (Roger Adam Aeronautical Establishments) was a company that produced light aircraft in kit in France between 1948 and 1955 intended for amateur construction. The company was found by French engineer Roger Adam who was also the designer. One of their aircraft, the Adam RA-14 Loisirs became a real success. Around forty were built in France and the designs were sold in 1957 to the Canadian Maranda Aircraft Company which distributed them in North America where around thirty RA14BM1s were built. The RA-14 Loisirs was a French two-seat high-wing light touring aircraft designed by Roger Adam shortly after World War II. Design and production The Loisirs ("Leisure") was designed in May 1945 by Roger Adam and built by ''Etablissements Aeronautiques R. Adam''. It was a tube, wood and fabric two-seater suitable for amateur construction. It was a high-wing braced monoplane with a fixed tail-wheel undercarriage. The seats were positioned side-by-side.Green, 1965, p. 34 The company sold plans and manufactured parts for the aircraft which could be fitted with a range of engines of between . These included the Régnier Motor Company, Régnier Regnier 4D, 4D, Continental A65, Continental A75 and Continental C90 engines. The Adam RA-15 Major was a French sporting plane developed and produced in the decade after World War II. Development The RA-15 was developed in 1948 as a higher-powered successor to the Adam RA-14 Loisirs, utilising a number of refinements including a plywood-covered fuselage and an enlarged rudder. It was a side-by-side two-seater with dual controls, wooden construction and a fabric-covered two-spar wing which folded for storage in hangars. The Major was designed to use any flat-four engine in the 65-75 h.p. range. Production and operational history A small series of Majors was produced in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The basic RA-15 was fitted with the 75 h.p. Regnier 4D-2 engine and the RA-151 had the 75 hp Continental C75 engine.Green, 1965, p. 34 Two Majors were still active in 1965.
