Sandra Roelofs
Sandra Elisabeth Roelofs–Saakashvili (also spelled Saakasjvili, ;, ; uk, Сандра Елісабет Рулофс-Саакашвілі, . born 23 December 1968) is a Dutch–Georgian activist and diplomat who was the First Lady of Georgia from 2004 to 2013, when her husband Mikheil Saakashvili was president of the country. Biography Roelofs was born in Terneuzen, Netherlands. In 1991, she graduated in French and German languages from the Erasmushogeschool in Brussels and in 1993 attended courses at the International Institute of Human Rights in Strasbourg. She met Mikheil Saakashvili in 1993 in Strasbourg and later that year moved to New York City where she worked at Columbia University and a Dutch law firm. In 1996, the couple came to Georgia, where Roelofs worked for the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Consulate of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Tbilisi. Willem Roelofs
Willem Roelofs (10 March 1822 – 12 May 1897) was a Dutch painter, water-colourist, etcher, lithographer and draughtsman. Roelofs was one of the forerunners of the Dutch Revival art, after the Romantic Classicism of the beginning of the 19th century, which led to the formation of The Hague school. His landscapes, especially the early ones with their dominating cloudy skies, demure bodies of water and populated with cattle, are typical for the School of Barbizon. Biography Willem Roelofs was born in Amsterdam on 10 March 1822. When he was a young man his family moved to Utrecht, where his father became an enlisted member of the Painters and Draughtsman Society in Utrecht, and received lessons from the artist Abraham Hendrik Winter. Karl Roelofs (born September 11, 1964) is an American video game developer known for creating the MacVenture game ''Shadowgate''. He is a co-founder of the video game development company Zojoi, LLC with Dave Marsh. Biography ICOM Simulations Karl Roelofs began his career in video game development in 1985 when his best friend Dave Marsh enlisted him to help with designing a video game for ICOM Simulations. Karl had wanted to be a writer and saw an opportunity in Dave's offer. Arjen Roelofs
Arjen Roelofs (1 March 1754 – 11 May 1828) was a Dutch astronomer. Early life Roelofs was born on the Hommema-sate (estate) near Hijum in Friesland, the youngest of four sons and two daughters. His father was Roelof Pytters, a tenant farmer and tax receiver. His mother was Neeltje Alberts from Finkum. The oldest son Klaas trained as a steersman, but did not work as one, and instead became a doctor in Sexbierum. The other sister Lisbeth married and left the household. It was not an easy life on the farm, but this is where the other three boys, Pieter, Albert and Arjen worked. Their mother stimulated the interest of the three sons in mathematics and science, however their father was unhappy with this. After their parents died in 1790, the three brothers took over the farm, and their sister Antje became their housekeeper. Annemarie Roelofs
Annemarie Roelofs (born 1955) is a Dutch trombone player, violinist, and professor at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts. She was a member of Henry Cow and the Feminist Improvising Group. Biography Roelofs studied violin at the Amsterdam Conservatory, and played trombone as a secondary instrument. She also enrolled in a course on free improvisation at the Conservatory and began improvising on trombone in salsa bands. In December 1977 Roelofs, unplanned and unannounced, played her trombone with Henry Cow at a concert at a club in Amsterdam. Impressed with her improvising, they invited her to join the band. She toured with them briefly, but only became a member in July 1978 because of her studies at the Conservatory. Justin Roelofs
White Flight is the solo project of Justin Roelofs, longtime musician and former singer/songwriter/guitarist for The Anniversary. Roelofs recorded a self-titled debut album at both a former neighbor and long-time childhood friend's house in Overland Park, Kansas and several locations around Lawrence, Kansas. Background "White Flight" is an assembly of sounds, both electronic and vocal. Roelofs recorded the sounds shortly after returning from what he describes as an enlightening exploration of traditional medicinal and hallucinogenic plants in the jungle of Peru. Roelofs had never performed any of the project's music live and left the United States prior to the album's release. He has subsequently returned and performed live as White Flight.
