Roelof Diodati
Roelof Diodati (Dordrecht, 28 July 1658 – Batavia, Dutch East Indies, Batavia, 10 March 1723) was a governor of Dutch Mauritius in the late 17th century. Life Diodati was from Swiss-Italian descent. His grandfather was Jean Diodati, a theologian, who translated the Bible into Italian. His father, born in Geneva, became a pastor of the Walloon church in Leiden in 1651. It is not obvious Rodolfo Diodati was one of a twin. Both brothers took service at the Dutch East India Company. He became an accountant at the Cape from 1686 and then a merchant. He was appointed as Governor of Dutch Mauritius, governor of Mauritius from 1692-1703. In 1693 he had to deal with François Leguat. In 1695, a big hurricane devastated the island, several of the :wikt:burgher, Burghers lost all theirs crops, many left the island. Diodati seems to have been appointed in Suratte. Abraham Momber Van De Velde
Abraham Momber, also known as Abraham Momber van de Velde, was the last commander (''opperhoofd'') of the Dutch East India Company ( nl, Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie, commonly abbreviated to VOC) settlement on Mauritius. He followed Roelof Deodati as the de facto Dutch governor on November 25, 1703. On November 15, 1707, the VOC's premises, goods, and administration were almost entirely destroyed by a fire. The same year, instructions were received from the VOC to abandon the island. and sailed to Mauritius in September 1708 for transporting people and their effects to either Batavia or the Cape. Isaac Johannes Lamotius
Isaac Johannes Lamotius (bapt. 29 May 1646 in Beverwijk – 1718) or (1653–1710) was governor of Mauritius from 1677 to 1692. Lamotius was interested in arts and knowledge and became an ichthyologist; he made 250 drawings of fishes which are kept in Paris. Family background Isaac was the son of Johannes Lamotius, who played a main part in the capturing of Dutch Malacca (January 1641) and married in Batavia the widow of Matthijs Quast. As a sergeant major, Johannes was stationed in Dutch Formosa (September 1642–?). In 1653 Johannes Lamotius lived in Beverwijk, Netherlands. Career Isaac arrived on the island in September 1677.
