Rodolfo Chiari
Rodolfo Chiari Robles (November 15, 1869 in Aguadulce – August 16, 1937 in Monrovia, California) was a Panamanian politician of the National Liberal Party. Chiari was the general manager of National Bank of Panama from 1909 to 1914. He was elected as the third presidential designate by the National Assembly for the term 1910–1912, and as the first presidential designate for the term 1912–1914, and as the first presidential designate for the term 1922–1924. Later he was elected as President of Panama from 1 October 1924 to 1 October 1928. Belisario Porras Barahona
Belisario Porras Barahona (28 November 185628 August 1942) was a Panamanian journalist and politician. He served three terms as President of Panama between 1912 and 1924. Porras was born in Las Tablas, on the thirty-fifth anniversary of Panama's declaration of independence from Spain. Raised by his grandmother, his early education was paid for by his father in Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, which Panama was a province of at the time. He joined his father when he went to secondary school, went on to study law at the National University in 1874, and won a scholarship from the Colombian government to study in Belgium from where he later returned to Panama. Working as a reporter, he aligned himself with the local Colombian Liberal Party, and was soon the target of persecution by the reigning Conservative government in Bogotá. The National Assembly of Panama ( es, Asamblea Nacional de Panamá), formerly the Legislative Assembly of Panama ''(Asamblea Legislativa de Panamá)'', is the legislative branch of the government of the Republic of Panama. It is a unicameral legislature, currently made up of 71 members, who serve five-year terms. Legislators from outlying rural districts are chosen by a first past the post method, while districts located in more populous towns and cities elect multiple legislators by means of a proportion-based formula. Panama's legislative elections are held simultaneous with its presidential and local elections. Panama also returns a delegation of 20 deputies to the supranational Central American Parliament. The National Bank of Panama ( es, Banco Nacional de Panamá) (BNP) is one of two Panamanian government-owned banks. As of January 2009, it held deposits of about US$5 billion. The other government-owned bank is ''Caja de Ahorros de Panamá'' (Savings Bank of Panama), with about US$1 billion in total deposits. Panama has never had an official central bank.
