Rodney Brand
John Rodney Brand (born August 20, 1947) is a former American football center who lettered at University of Arkansas in 1967, 1968 and 1969. He was a member of the 1969 College Football All-America Team. He played in the 1969 and 1970 Sugar Bowl, winning the former, and in the 1970 Hula Bowl. Following his college career, he was drafted by the New York Giants in the 14th round, 350th overall, in the 1970 NFL Draft, but never played a regular season game in the National Football League (NFL). Brand was later named to the 1960's Razorbacks All-Decade Team and was inducted into the University of Arkansas Hall of Fame in 2014. Center (American Football)
Center or Centre (C) is a position in gridiron football. The center is the innermost lineman of the offensive line on a football team's offense. The center is also the player who passes (or "snaps") the ball between his legs to the quarterback at the start of each play. The importance of centers for a football team has increased, due to the re-emergence of 3–4 defenses. According to Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome, "you need to have somebody who can neutralize that nose tackle. If you don't, everything can get screwed up. Arkansas Razorbacks Football Players
Arkansas ( ) is a landlocked state in the South Central United States. The Arkansas Razorbacks, also known as the Hogs, are the intercollegiate athletics teams representing the University of Arkansas, located in Fayetteville. The University of Arkansas student body voted to change the name of the school mascot (originally the Cardinals) in 1910 to the Arkansas Razorbacks after a hard-fought battle against LSU in which they were said to play like a "wild band of Razorback hogs" by former coach Hugo Bezdek. The 1970 National Football League Draft was the 35th National Football League Draft and the first of the league's modern era, following the merger of the National Football League with the American Football League. Hula Bowl
The Hula Bowl is a post-season college football all-star game held annually, usually in January. From inception through the 2021 playing, it was held in Hawaii; since the 2022 edition, it has been played in Orlando, Florida. The game was first staged in 1947, between mainland collegiate players and local Hawaiian players; it has been played exclusively with collegiate players since 1960. The bowl was paused following its 2008 edition, then was revived in January 2020. The game was originally held at Honolulu Stadium in Honolulu, then moved to Aloha Stadium in Halawa starting with the January 1976 edition.
