picture info	Rodine, Črnomelj Rodine (; german: Rodine) is a settlement northwest of the town of Črnomelj in the area of White Carniola in southeastern Slovenia. It is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region. History Rodine was a mixed Slovene and Gottschee German village. A German school was opened in the village in 1906 to serve the German-speaking population and operated until 1919. The Ss. Cyril and Methodius Society ( sl, Ciril-Metodova družba) established a Slovene school in neighboring Naklo in 1909. The residents produced wine on a large scale before the 19th-century "Phylloxera plague," after which grape cultivation was restricted and fell. The vineyards were further reduced when the Gottschee Germans were evicted in the fall of 1941 and their vineyards fell into disrepair. Italian troops entered the village on 28 July 1942. picture info	Rodine, Žirovnica Rodine () is one of ten villages in the Municipality of Žirovnica in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia. In recent years, the settlement has grown northwards, further up the hill side and westwards to reach right to the outskirts of Smokuč. There are open fields and forests to the east and south of the village. History There is evidence of Ancient Rome, Roman settlement in the area of Rodine with the remains of a Roman farm (villa rustica) in Ključi. This was partially excavated in 1959, and finds show that it was settled from the late 1st century AD until the 5th century. Remains of three buildings and a number of small objects were found during excavation. Some are now on display at the Jalen House. Notable buildings and areas Roedean Gap is a slight dip in the cliffs between Black Rock and Ovingdean Gap, and has been known by the name since at least 1724. It was the site of a toll-gate on the Newhaven turnpike, and Roedean Farm stood on the clifftop until the construction of the Marine Drive road in the early 1930s.
