Clément Rodier
Marie-Clément Rodier, C.S.Sp. (; born Vital Rodier; 1839–1904) was a French missionary brother in Algeria. He is credited with creating the clementine variety of mandarin orange in 1902. Rodier was born 25 May 1839 as Vital Rodier in Malvieille, near to Chambon-sur-Dolore, France. Originally a member of the Brothers of the Annunciation at Misserghin in Algeria, he helped to run an orphanage. Brother Marie-Clément worked with the orphanage's citrus trees, and made grafts from an uncultivated tree that had grown among some thorn bushes in the orchard. This graft resulted in the clementine, which was named in honor of its creator. Brother Marie-Clément's new variety was "a species of mandarin, which won the admiration of connoisseurs and which the orphans christened the Clementine. It was neither a mandarin tree nor an orange tree. Its fruit was redder than a mandarin and had a delicious taste and, moreover, it had no pith". Édouard-Étienne Rodier (December 26, 1804 – February 5, 1840) was a lawyer and political figure in Lower Canada. He was born Étienne-Édouard Rodier in Montreal in 1804, the son of a Montreal merchant, and studied at the Petit Séminaire de Montréal. He studied law with Hippolyte Saint-Georges Dupré and then Dominique-Benjamin Rollin; Rodier was called to the bar in 1827 and set up practice at Montreal. In 1826, he had married Julie-Victoire Dumont, the daughter of a cooper; she died in 1829. Biography

Rodier always loved comics, but first set out to become a musician or cinematographer. He soon returned to comics. He started out by imitating the work of his favorite author, Hergé, creating pastiches of ''The Adventures of Tintin''. These copies were illegal and did not earn him much money, though this allowed him to meet many other cartoonists, like Bob de Moor, Jacques Martin (comics), Jacques Martin and Greg (comics), Michel "Greg" Regnier. In 1995, he met Daniel and Richard Houde, and in their magazine ''Pignouf'' he started his comic series ''Pignouf et Hamlet'', about a boy and his pig.
