Stadtroda (Roda until 1925) is a town of 6,653 people (2017), located in Thuringia, Germany. Stadtroda lies on the river Roda (river), Roda, a tributary of the Saale. The former municipalities Bollberg and Quirla were merged into Stadtroda in January 2019. History According to some sources, Faust was born in Roda in 1480. The house where he is said to have been born was torn down and sold to Chicago in 1896, where it was going to be shown in the Germany-Hall of the World's Fair. The fate of the house is unknown. Roda Island (or Rawdah Island, , ) is an island neighbourhood in the Nile in central Cairo, alternatively or partially known as Manial al-Roda, or al-Manial, in reference to the main village that existed on the island before it was urbanised, and is part of the Misr al-Qadima district. History The island was known in Antiquity as Babylonian Island (), referring to the Babylon Fortress. During the reign of caliph Sulaymān ibn ʿAbd al-Malik of the Umayyad dynasty, a nilometer was built on the southern tip of the island opposite the mouth of the Khalij canal in AD 715 to measure the annual Nile flood. Roda ( sr-Cyrl, Рода, lit=Stork) is a chain of retail stores that began operating in 1994 by opening its first location in Kula. By developing a retail network of megamarkets, first in Vojvodina, and then throughout Serbia, Roda positioned itself as a store for large and family purchases. History In October 2006, Mercator Group from Slovenia bought 76% of shares of the M-Rodić company at 116 million euros and thus became the majority owner of Roda Markets. Roda ( - wheel or circle) is the circular formation within which participants perform in any of several African and Afro-Brazilian dance art forms, such as engolo, capoeira, maculelê and samba de roda. By extension, the whole event may be called a ''roda'' (as in "We will have a roda next Saturday"). Part of the etiquette of the roda means that the people in it should try to keep the roda circular and fill in any "gaps" that may appear if someone leaves the roda; in other words, the people should be evenly distributed in the circumference of the roda, especially if there are not many people in it. Sportvereniging Roda Juliana Combinatie Kerkrade (; ), shortly as Roda JC Kerkrade () or commonly Roda JC or simply Roda, is a Dutch professional football club based in Kerkrade, Netherlands. Roda JC Kerkrade plays in the Eerste Divisie. The club was founded by a merger between Rapid JC and Roda Sport in 1962. Roda '46 (self-styled as RODA '46) is a Dutch football club from Leusden. It was founded on 15 September 1946. The club has Saturday and Sunday football teams. Its Saturday football team plays in 2018–19 in the Eerste Klasse, while its Sunday team plays in the Derde Klasse. Roda's home grounds are at the Buiningpark in Leusden. With 1600 members and about 100 teams, Roda '46 is one of the larger clubs in the Amersfoort region. Roda Group Of Temples
The Khed-Roda Group of Monuments include eighth-ninth century dated seven Hindu temples built during Pratihara or Rashtrakuta period. It also include a reservoir (''Kund'') and a stepwell. They are located between Raisingpura (Roda) and Khed Chandarani villages, 18 km from Himmatnagar in Sabarkantha district of Gujarat, India. It is located on the bank of the seasonal stream which merges Hathmati River downstream. Etymology ''Roda'' literally means brick-bats in Gujarati. The site derived its name from these ruins containing brickbats and an old hamlet near the site. Khed Chandrani is a nearby village. Archeological history The site was not known to the early archeologists. It was first studied by P. A. Inamdar in 1926 followed by U. P. Shah and M. A. Dhaky in 1960s. Dhaky considered these monuments as the "great-grandfather" of the Solanki architecture of Gujarat, also known as Maru-Gurjara architecture.
