Rod Skoe
Rod Skoe (born August 9, 1954) is a Minnesota politician and former member of the Minnesota Senate. A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL), he represented District 2, which included all or portions of Becker, Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, Otter Tail and Wadena counties in the northwestern part of the state. Education Skoe completed high school at Kelliher High School in Kelliher, and later received a B.A. from Augsburg College in Minneapolis. Minnesota House of Representatives Skoe served in the Minnesota House of Representatives representing District 2B from 1999 to 2003. Minnesota Senate Skoe was first elected in 2002 and was re-elected in every subsequent election since then until 2016. He chaired the senate tax committee from 2012 to 2016. Paul Utke ( ; born December 3, 1956) is an American politician and member of the Minnesota Senate. A member of the Republican Party of Minnesota, he represents District 2 in northwestern Minnesota. Early life and career Utke was born on December 3, 1956, and raised in North Dakota. He is an insurance broker and was elected to the Park Rapids City Council in 2008. He was chaired the Hubbard County Republicans and has served on boards of several local organizations. He owned a hardware store in Park Rapids for 16 years. Wadena County, Minnesota
Wadena County ( ) is a county in the U.S. state of Minnesota. As of the 2020 census, the population was 14,065. Its county seat is Wadena. History The newly organized Minnesota Legislature created the county on June 11, 1858. A settlement began at the future city of Wadena in 1871, and by 1873 a post office was in operation there. The settlement was designated the county seat when the state legislature organized the county on February 21, 1873. The town took the name of a trading post 15 miles (24 km) to the east, which had flourished for several years but was largely abandoned by that time. The trading post was named for Chief Wadena, an Ojibwe Indian chief of the late 19th century in northwestern Minnesota. Wadena County comprises 15 townships, first surveyed in 1863.
