Rod McCall
Roderick James McCall (born 20 September 1963, in Brisbane) is a former Australian rugby union lock. McCall played for Australia from 1989 to 1995, including winning the 1991 Rugby World Cup. He played 40 times in total for Australia. He played 107 times for the Queensland Reds. McCall made his début for Australia at age 25 on 4 November 1989 in a game against the French, the game was won by Australia, 32 points to 15 in Strasbourg. McCall played in all of Australia's matches at the 1991 World Cup, and after winning all of their pool games and then defeating the All Blacks in the semi-finals, Australia won the World Cup against England in the final. He played his final two tests in Australia against Argentina, winning both games in Sydney and Brisbane, before heading over to South Africa for the 1995 Rugby World Cup. 1995 Rugby World Cup
The 1995 Rugby World Cup was the third Rugby World Cup. It was hosted and won by South Africa, and was the first Rugby World Cup in which every match was held in one country. The World Cup was the first major sporting event to take place in South Africa following the end of apartheid. It was also the first World Cup in which South Africa was allowed to compete; the International Rugby Football Board (IRFB, now World Rugby) had only readmitted South Africa to international rugby in 1992, following negotiations to end apartheid. The World Cup was also the last major event of rugby union's amateur era; two months after the tournament, the IRFB opened the sport to professionalism. John Eales
John Eales AM (born 27 June 1970) is an Australian former rugby union player and the most successful captain in the history of Australian rugby. In 1999, he became one of the first players to win multiple Rugby World Cups. Early life Eales went to school at Marist College Ashgrove, in Ashgrove. Phil Kearns
Philip Nicholas Kearns (born 27 June 1967) is an Australian former rugby union player. He represented the Wallabies 67 times and was captain on ten occasions. He is a rugby commentator with the Fox Sports TV channel. Biography Kearns was born in Sydney Australia and educated at Newington College (1979–84) and the University of New South Wales where he graduated with an Arts degree, majoring in Economics. He played his provincial rugby for New South Wales. He made his Wallaby debut in 1989. He enjoyed a rivalry on the pitch with New Zealand's Sean Fitzpatrick. During one Bledisloe Cup match he scored a try by barging through Fitzpatrick and then made a two fingered gesture to him, saying something which most TV watchers thought they could lip read. Otago Highlanders
The Highlanders (formerly the Otago Highlanders) is a New Zealand professional rugby union team based in Dunedin that compete in Super Rugby. The team was formed in 1996 to represent the lower South Island in the newly formed Super 12 competition, and includes the Otago, North Otago and Southland unions. The Highlanders take their name from the Scottish immigrants that helped found the Otago, North Otago, and Southland regions in the 1840s and 1850s.
