Rod Lester-Smith
Rod Lester-Smith (born 18 July 1959) is a former Australian Rules Footballer who played with East Fremantle in the West Australian Football League, as well as Hawthorn and the Brisbane Bears in the VFL/AFL. He was also a member of the 1985 All-Australian team. Tall, pacy and strong overhead, Lester-Smith endured more than his fair share of injury woes during six seasons at East Fremantle. He managed 89 games in his first stint with the Sharks, played mostly on the wing. He was also a member of the famous 1979 WAFL premiership team. Drafted to Hawthorn in 1982, Lester-Smith spent most of his time at half back and was unlucky not to play in a winning grand final team during Hawthorn's dominance in the 1980s. Lester-Smith played in grand final losses in 1984 and 1985; when Hawthorn won the flag in 1986, he was a last minute omission from the grand final team. 1982 VFL Draft
The 1982 Victorian Football League (VFL) draft was the second annual national draft held by the VFL, the leading Australian rules football league. Held on 19 October 1982, all twelve VFL clubs participated in the draft, each having two picks, with the team finishing last in the 1982 VFL season having first choice, followed by the other eleven clubs in reverse finishing position order. Wooden spooners Footscray Football Club named East Fremantle ruckman Andrew Purser as the first pick of the draft. The draft was limited to players aged sixteen and above in non-Victorian based competitions and tied players wishing to move to Victoria to the club that drafted them. Rodney Eade
Rodney Eade (born 4 April 1958) is a former Australian rules footballer and coach in the Australian Football League. He is a former coach of the Sydney Swans, the Western Bulldogs and the Gold Coast Football Club. He has, to date, coached 377 games of AFL football, placing him first on the all-time AFL/VFL list of most games coached without a premiership. Playing career Hawthorn Recruited from Glenorchy, while still a schoolboy, young Rodney Eade made his VFL debut for the Hawthorn Football Club as an 18-year-old. Playing with a lot of dash and blistering speed, Eade capped off his debut season by playing in the 1976 premiership team. He went on to play in the Hawks‘ 1978, 1983, and 1986 premierships sides. Mick Malthouse
Michael Raymond Malthouse (born 17 August 1953) is a former Australian rules footballer, who played for the St Kilda Football Club and Richmond Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). After finishing his playing career, Malthouse embarked on a distinguished coaching career with , , and . He guided the Eagles to their first two AFL premierships in 1992 and 1994, and then led Collingwood to their 15th VFL/AFL premiership in 2010. The West Coast Eagles are a professional Australian rules football club based in Perth, Western Australia. The club was founded in 1986 as one of two expansion teams in the Australian Football League (AFL), then known as the Victorian Football League. The club plays its home games at Perth Stadium and has its headquarters at Lathlain Park. Ken Judge (15 January 1958 – 15 January 2016) was an Australian rules footballer and coach.
