Rockland Rural Historic District
The Rockland Rural Historic District is a large rural historic district located near Front Royal in northeastern Warren County, Virginia. It encompasses more than , roughly bounded on the north by the Clark County line, and the east by the Shenandoah River. This area has unspoiled vistas of farms and rural crossroads communities, with a road network and land-use pattern dating to the 18th century. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015. It includes two previously-listed properties: Erin and Mount Zion. Front Royal, Virginia
Front Royal is the only incorporated town in Warren County, Virginia, United States. The population was 15,011 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Warren County. History The entire Shenandoah Valley including the area to become Front Royal was annexed and claimed for hunting by the Iroquois Confederation during the later Beaver Wars, by 1672. Some bands of the Shawnee settled in the area as client groups to the Iroquois and alternately to the Cherokee after 1721. The Iroquois formally sold their entire claim east of the Alleghenies to the Virginia Colony at the Treaty of Lancaster in 1744. Front Royal, originally settled in 1754 under the name LeHewtown, had been known to European explorers as early as the 1670s, and the nearby settlement of Chester's Ferry was in existence by 1736. Warren County is a U.S. county located in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The 2020 census places Warren County within the Washington-Arlington-Alexandria, DC-VA-MD-WV Metropolitan Statistical Area with a population of 40,727. The county seat is Front Royal. Clarke County, Virginia
Clarke County is a county in the Commonwealth of Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 14,783. Its county seat is Berryville. Clarke County is included in the Washington-Arlington-Alexandria, DC-VA-MD-WV Metropolitan Statistical Area. Shenandoah River
The Shenandoah River is the principal tributary of the Potomac River, long with two forks approximately long each,U.S. Geological Survey. It was built in 1848, and is a three part Palladian plan dwelling with a two-story central section and -story flanking wings.
