Rockingham Lakes Regional Park
Rockingham Lakes Regional Park is a conservation park approximately south of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Rockingham. The park, established in 1997, covers a non-continuous area of and occupies approximately 16 percent of the area of the City of Rockingham. In Western Australia, regional parks consist of areas of land that have been identified as having outstanding conservation, landscape and recreation values. The park contains remnants of the once widespread Swan Coastal Plain and two threatened ecological communities, Thrombolites and Sedgelands. It provides evidence of the sea level changes over the past 7,000 years. Rockingham Lakes is one of eleven regional parks in the Perth region of Western Australia. Mandurah Road
Mandurah Road is the name given to two roads in the cities of Perth and Mandurah, Western Australia, which link together at Stakehill Road, Karnup. Route description The northern part starts in the Kwinana Beach industrial area. After 2 km and reaching the City of Rockingham boundary, it becomes a semi-rural single carriageway road which runs past wetlands east of Rockingham such as Lake Cooloongup and Lake Walyungup. It also provides access to the residential and rural-residential sections of the suburb of Baldivis. The southern part starts at Stakehill Road and is a dual carriageway and part of National Highway 1. It is actually a continuation of Ennis Avenue coming from Rockingham. Lake Richmond
Lake Richmond (Aboriginal Australian name: Naragebup) is a freshwater lake in Rockingham, Western Australia. It is approximately , with an area of , and is deep in the centre. It is believed to be named after the London borough. It is part of Rockingham Lakes Regional Park. Overview The lake is less than from the coast, having separated from the ocean at Cockburn Sound within the last 4,000 years. The shallow waters within about of the edges of the lake are home to thrombolites, estimated to be about six million years old. The internal structure of the thrombolites is believed to be unique in the world. In 1996, the Western Australian Museum concluded that structures on the lake were likely to be tidal weirs constructed by pre-colonial Indigenous Australians for use as fish traps.
