Rockhampton Heritage Village
The Rockhampton Heritage Village is a tourist attraction and multipurpose venue located in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia. Situated on corner of the Bruce Highway and Boundary Road in the suburb of Parkhurst, it was officially opened by Rockhampton City Council mayor Jim MacRae and Federal Member for Capricornia Paul Marek on 8 May 1998. Laid out as a township museum on 11.4 hectares of land, the Rockhampton Heritage Village consists of approximately 40 buildings, with a mixture of both original historical buildings or replicas which have been preserved or designed to focus on the history of Central Queensland since European settlement. The attraction is mainly run by volunteers from the organisation Friends of the Heritage Village, but a small number of paid Rockhampton Regional Council employees also work on site. Parkhurst is a suburb of Rockhampton in the Rockhampton Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Parkhurst had a population of 2,476 people. Geography Parkhurst is bounded to the north by Ramsay Creek and to the west by Ramsay Creek and then the Fitzroy River. Nerimbera is a rural locality in the Livingstone Shire, Queensland, Australia. In the , Nerimbera had a population of 293 people. Geography The northern part of Nerimbera comprises the Black Creek valley running up into the Berserker Range; this land is mountainous and undeveloped. St Christopher's Chapel, Queensland
St Christopher's Chapel is a heritage-listed chapel at St Christopher's Chapel Road, Nerimbera, Shire of Livingstone, Queensland, Australia. It was built from 1943 to 1959. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992. History St Christopher's Chapel at Nerimbera was erected in 1943 by the American 542 Engineers, Ship and Shore Battalion. The timber and stone chapel was built on Harbour Board land made available to the U.S. Army by the Queensland Government. It reflects the presence of American troops in Queensland during the Second World War and stands as the only structure of its kind in Australia.
