Rockhampton is a village and civil parish in the English county of Gloucestershire, situated in the Unitary authority, unitary Districts of England, district of South Gloucestershire. It is located northeast of Thornbury, South Gloucestershire, Thornbury, north of Bristol and is approximately east of the River Severn. It had a population of 166 people according to the 2011 census. The south end of the village is more properly called Newton, and is in the Thornbury, South Gloucestershire, Thornbury postal area. Population The population of Rockhampton has only increased by six since the census started in 1801. However, there have been wide variations in population since 1801 until now. The first big variation was an increase of 61 people from 1821 to 1831 where the population reached 220. The population reached its highest point in 1951 when it reached 235. Shepperdine
Shepperdine is a small village in the parish of Oldbury-on-Severn in South Gloucestershire, England, with a border with Stroud District. The land lies wholly on the flood plain of the River Severn. The name, first recorded in 1215 as ''Shepewardin'', means "sheep enclosure", from the Old English ''sceāp'' "sheep" and ''worthiġn'' "enclosure or farm". Landmarks Shepperdine was well known as the location of a pub on the banks of the Severn, known as the Windbound (once formally known as the New Inn). The Windbound closed in 2004 and became a residential home, which itself closed. The building was demolished in 2015. Shepperdine has a Church of England chapel of ease (small church) dedicated to St Mary next to Manor Farm in Nupdown Road. It is a tin tabernacle. Lord's Cricket Ground, commonly known as Lord's, is a cricket venue in St John's Wood, London. The West of England Premier League (WEPL) is the top level of competition for recreational club cricket in the West of England and is a designated ECB Premier League. Since its inception in 1999, the most successful club has been Bath, having won the Premier One title on eleven occasions. The Castle School
The Castle School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form with academy status, located in Thornbury, South Gloucestershire, England, which serves the town and the surrounding villages. Pupils from Bristol also attend the school. There are around 1,189,pupils, including 360 in the sixth form. The main school site on Park Road has seen additions in recent years including the community sports centre, and the Octagon art gallery and classroom. The Gloucester Road buildings approximately half a mile away are primarily used as the sixth form centre, but also house the vocational faculty used by lower years.
