Rockett, Texas
Rockett is an unincorporated community in Ellis County, Texas, United States. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. Rockett is located on FM 813, approximately five miles northeast of Waxahachie. History Rockett was settled in 1846, making it one of the oldest settlements in Ellis County. Californian Scott Spear and his family were among the first settlers in the area. They chose a site along Red Oak Creek, southeast of the present-day community. Other families followed. Originally known as Liberty, the name was changed to Rockett in 1852 after John Rockett, a pioneer settler in the area. The community continued to grow and the first post office in 1894. It remained in operation until January 2, 1907. By 1933, Rockett had an estimated population of 150 and two businesses. As of 2000, there were approximately 124 people living in the community. Rocketts Landing
Rockett's Landing (or simply Rocketts) is a new urbanist neighborhood in southeastern Richmond, Virginia on the border of Henrico County, Virginia and the north bank of the James River. It was named after Baldwin Rockett, an 18th-century ship's captain born in April 1681 in Exeter, Devonshire, England. The neighborhood was originally a factory and water tower and has been converted into mixed-use development with brick streets. It is served by the GRTC Pulse Rocketts Landing station. Dick Rockett
Richard Rockett (born 1931) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a right wing-forward for the Kilkenny senior team. Born in Slieverue, County Kilkenny, Rockett first played competitive hurling during his schooling at De La Salle College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty when he first linked up with the Kilkenny junior team. He made his senior debut in the 1953-54 National League. Rockett played a key role for the team for the next few years and won one All-Ireland medal and two Leinster medals. Rockett also represented the Leinster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions, winning one Railway Cup medal. At club level he was a one-time championship medallist with Slieverue. His retirement came prior to the start of the 1959 championship. Kevin Rockett is an Irish film historian, writer and scholar, specialising on the history of Irish cinema. He is currently Associate Professor in Film Studies and head of the School of Drama, Film and Music, at Trinity College, Dublin, and is author, co-author, or editor of numerous books, including ''Cinema and Ireland'' (1987), ''The Irish Filmography'' (1996), ''Neil Jordan: Exploring Boundaries'' (2003) and ''Irish Film Censorship'' (2004). Background Rockett became a member of the Irish Film Institute in 1979, and was its chairman from 1984 through 1991. He received his doctorate from the University of Ulster in 1989. He taught film studies at University College Dublin before joining the faculty at Trinity College in 2000. Patrick Edward Rockett (born January 9, 1955) is an American former baseball shortstop who played for the Atlanta Braves between 1976 and 1978. Rockett was drafted by the Braves as the tenth pick of the 1973 Major League Baseball Draft, 1973 amateur draft. He played his first game with the Braves on September 17, 1976, against the Los Angeles Dodgers; it was one of only four major league games he played in that season. Rockett played parts of two more seasons with the Braves in 1977 and 1978. He spent the entire 1979 season with the Braves' Triple-A affiliate in Richmond before being traded in the 1979/80 off-season to the Toronto Blue Jays along with Barry Bonnell and Joey McLaughlin for Chris Chambliss and Luis Gómez (baseball), Luis Gómez. Richard Allan Ream (born August 8, 1961), better known by the stage name Rikki Rockett, is an American drummer for rock band Poison. The band has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide and 15 million records in the United States alone. Biography Richard Allan Ream was born on August 8, 1961, in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, the youngest of two children of Norman and Margaret Ream. He attended Cedar Cliff High School in Camp Hill.
