Rocketboom was a daily vlog produced by Andrew Baron in the format of a newscast with a comedic slant. Since 2004 Rocketboom has presented oddities, vlog excerpts, social and political commentary. The Rocketboom weblog and Apollo Pony featured supplemental material unfit for the vlog. On April 19, 2012, after an eight-month hiatus, Rocketboom introduced Keghan Hurst as their fifth host prior to their April 23 relaunch. Mememolly was the host until August 25, 2011. Joanne Colan hosted from July 12, 2006 until April 17, 2009. Caitlin Hill also hosted a few episodes in April 2009. The show was originally hosted by Amanda Congdon from October 26, 2004 until July 5, 2006. Andrew Baron
Andrew Michael Baron (born 1970) is the creator of Rocketboom, Know Your Meme, the video aggregator site, Magma and Humanwire. Baron has taught undergraduate and graduate classes at Parsons and was teaching IDTech at M.I.T. when he came up with the idea for Rocketboom. In 2017 Baron was arrested on charges that he stole money from his non-profit, Humanwire, to which he pled no contest. Early life Baron holds a BA in Philosophy from Bates College and an MFA in Design and Technology from Parsons School of Design. Early career In 1999, Baron was the owner of a visual and performing arts gallery, Movements Gallery on 6th Street in Austin, Texas which the Austin Chronicle named 'Best New Multi-Disciplinary Space in Austin' in the 'Best of Austin's Critics Poll'. Amanda Thornton Congdon (born August 4, 1981, in New York City) is an American former video blogger. She began her on-screen career as the first anchor of the online daily news show, ''Rocketboom'', which she hosted and produced until June 23, 2006. Involvement with Rocketboom Congdon began as Rocketboom's anchor with the show's October 26, 2004, debut. The show went from an initial 700 viewers in 2004 to 70,000 viewers in the first ten months. ''BusinessWeek'' labeled it "the most popular site of its kind on the Net". More viewers visited Rocketboom after an June 11, 2006, interview with Congdon on CNN. Rocketboom's audience continued to increase, going from 100,000 vlog viewers at the end of 2005 to 300,000 by the spring of 2006. Molly Templeton (born 25 October 1989), known by her stage name Mememolly (me-me-molly) is a British-Canadian Internet personality and entrepreneur. She hosted the video blog Rocketboom from July 2009 to July 2011. Career Originally from the United Kingdom, Templeton started making YouTube videos in her bedroom when she was 16. ''Know Your Meme'' (''KYM'') is a website and video series which uses wiki software to document various Internet memes and other online phenomena, such as viral videos, image macros, catchphrases, Internet celebrities and more. It also investigates new and changing memes through research, as it commercializes on the culture. Originally produced by Rocketboom, the website was acquired in March 2011 by Cheezburger Network, which, in 2016, was acquired by Literally Media.
