''Rock of Ages'' is a 2012 American jukebox musical comedy film directed by Adam Shankman and based on the rock jukebox Broadway musical ''Rock of Ages'' by Chris D'Arienzo. Starring Julianne Hough and Diego Boneta in his film debut leading an ensemble cast that includes Russell Brand, Alec Baldwin, Paul Giamatti, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Malin Åkerman, Mary J. Blige, Bryan Cranston and Tom Cruise, the film features the music of many 1980s rock artists including Def Leppard, Journey, Scorpions, Poison, Foreigner, Guns N' Roses, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Bon Jovi, Twisted Sister, Whitesnake, REO Speedwagon, and others. Adam Shankman
Adam Michael Shankman (born November 27, 1964) is an American film director, producer, writer, dancer, author, actor, and choreographer. He was a permanent judge on season 6–7 of the television program ''So You Think You Can Dance''. He began his professional career in musical theater, and was a dancer in music videos for Paula Abdul and Janet Jackson. Shankman has choreographed dozens of films and directed several feature-length films, including ''A Walk to Remember'', '' Bringing Down the House'', ''The Pacifier'' and the 2007 remake of ''Hairspray''. Bojan Bazelli, (born 15 August 1957) is a Montenegrin cinematographer and director of film, commercials, and music videos. His credits include collaborations with filmmakers like Abel Ferrara, Gore Verbinski, Doug Liman, Paul Schrader, Adam Shankman, and Michael Bay. Bazelli studied at Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.
