Rock 'til You Drop (song)
"Rock 'til You Drop" is a single released by the British rock band Status Quo in 1992. It was included on the album ''Rock 'til You Drop''. It was released in place of the original single choice "Fakin' the Blues". The proposed cover for "Fakin' the Blues" was adapted for this release. This was the last 12 inch vinyl release from the band. The CD was packaged in a guitar shaped cardboard sleeve which had originally been intended to house the cancelled song "Fakin' The Blues". The original track listing was stickered over and the CDs were numbered up to 10,000, but numbers surpassing 10,000 have been found. The song was reprised, in 2014, for the band's thirty-first studio album '' Aquostic (Stripped Bare)''. It was featured in the ninety-minute launch performance of the album at London's '' Roundhouse'' on 22 October, the concert being recorded and broadcast live by BBC Radio 2 as part of their ''In Concert'' series. Status Quo (band)
Status Quo are a British rock band that formed in 1962. The group originated in London as The Scorpions and was founded by Francis Rossi and Alan Lancaster while they were still schoolboys. After a number of lineup changes, which included the introduction of Rick Parfitt in 1967, the band became The Status Quo in 1967 and Status Quo in 1969. As of 2022, the group have been active for 60 consecutive years (despite announcing a breakup in 1984, they would play Live Aid the following year and resume normal activities in 1986). They have had over 60 chart hits in the UK - more than any other rock band - including "Pictures of Matchstick Men", "Down Down", "Rockin' All Over the World", " Whatever You Want", " In the Army Now", and "What You're Proposing". ''Rock 'til You Drop'' is the twentieth studio album by English rock band Status Quo and their last on the Vertigo label after nearly 20 years. Singer and guitarist Francis Rossi produced the album. Vertigo Records is a record company with United Kingdom origins. It was a subsidiary of the Philips/Phonogram record label, launched in 1969 to specialise in progressive rock and other non-mainstream musical styles. "Can't Give You More" is a single released by the British Rock band Status Quo in 1991. The original version was included on the album ''Rockin' All Over The World''. This single was a re-recorded version which was to be used as an advertising campaign for Perrier Water. The words 'Eau Eau Eau' were also included in the title on some of the 7 inch vinyl copies. "Roadhouse Medley (Anniversary Waltz Part 25)" is a single released by the British rock band Status Quo in 1992. It was included on the album '' Live Alive Quo''. "Roadhouse Medley" was recorded live at BBC Radio One's ''Party in the Park'', at Sutton Park in Birmingham on 30 August 1992. All versions of the medley, including the full 13:27 version, are unavailable elsewhere. The origins of this track date back to the early 1970s, when Status Quo heard the Doors track "Roadhouse Blues" in a club and adopted its chugging rhythm as a template for much of their early self-penned material. Roundhouse (venue)
The Roundhouse is a performing arts and concert venue situated at the Grade II* listed former railway engine shed in Chalk Farm, London, England. The building was erected in 1846–1847 by the London & North Western Railway as a roundhouse, a circular building containing a railway turntable, but was used for that purpose for only about a decade. After being used as a warehouse for a number of years, the building fell into disuse just before World War II. It was first made a listed building in 1954. It reopened after 25 years, in 1964, as a performing arts venue, when the playwright Arnold Wesker established the Centre 42 Theatre Company and adapted the building as a theatre. ''Hello!'' is the sixth studio album by the British rock band Status Quo. Released in September 1973, it was the first of four Status Quo albums to top the UK Albums Chart. It was the first Status Quo album on which drummer John Coghlan was credited with songwriting. Keyboard player Andy Bown and saxophonists Stewart Blandamer and Steve Farr played on "Blue Eyed Lady". This was Bown's first appearance on a Status Quo album; he guested on several subsequent releases, and became a permanent member of the line-up a few years later. Blandamer and Farr also played on "Forty Five Hundred Times", which featured piano by John Mealing. Background 1973 started for Status Quo with the belated chart success, in January, of the 1972 releases on their new label Vertigo, leading to their first top ten entry on the album charts and a long-awaited return to the top ten of the singles chart.
