By 1976's '' Status Quo Live!'' album the song had been extended to more than twelve minutes in duration, featuring a lengthy middle section in which parts of a traditional Irish jig, " Irish Washer Woman" were play ...

The related phrase ''status quo ante'', literally "the status before", refers to the state of affairs that existed previously. Political usage Via social movements the status quo might be overhauled. These seek to alleviate or prevent a particular issue and often to shape social feeling and cultural expression of a society or nation. "Break the Rules" is a song by British rock band Status Quo from their album '' Quo'' (1974). It was the only single released from the album, though it had not been the band's choice, as they wanted the track "Backwater" to be the single. The B-side of the single was "Lonely Night", which was not on an album until it became a bonus track on the 2005 reissue of ''Quo''. Some copies of the single were mis-pressed with the moulded label for "Lonely Night" on both sides. Although the storyteller indicates that he knows that this will be short lived, as his friend won't stay long. The themes of the song are isolation, friendship, partying and drugs, specifically cocaine. Every verse ends ...

The Wanderer (Dion Song)
"The Wanderer" is a song written by Ernie Maresca and originally recorded by Dion, released on his 1961 album ''Runaround Sue''. The song, with a 12-bar blues-base verse and an eight-bar bridge, tells the story of a travelling man and his many loves. The song is ranked number 243 on the ''Rolling Stone'' magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. History Maresca had co-written Dion's previous number-one hit, "Runaround Sue", but originally intended "The Wanderer" to be recorded by another group, Nino and the Ebb Tides. They passed on it in favor of another Maresca song, so Dion was given it as the B-side of his follow-up single, "The Majestic", a song which his record company had chosen for him. The record was turned over by radio DJs who preferred "The Wanderer", which duly entered the US charts in December 1961 and rose to number 2 in early 1962 (behind "Duke of Earl" by Gene Chandler). It also reached number 10 in the UK and number one in Australia. The song w ...

Butlin's Minehead
Butlins Resort Minehead is a holiday camp operated by Butlins, located in Minehead in Somerset, England. It opened in 1962 and remains in use today. It was known as Butlin's Minehead until 1987, and as Somerwest World from then until 1999, when it reopened as Butlins Minehead Resort. History In the winter of 1961, Billy Butlin began work on creating a holiday camp in Minehead. The site was selected because of its flatness, good rail links, and proximity to the town and sea. The site was not without its problems, however, including flooding. In order to solve this, a trench was excavated around the site and an earth wall constructed. The trench later became the site's boating pond. The site opened to the public on 26 May 1962, the construction having cost £2 million. Over the next decade several attractions were added: the miniature railway in 1964, the chairlifts in 1965, and the monorail in 1967. Full size locomotives, Duchess of Hamilton and Knowle, were added in 196 ...
