2013 Copa Libertadores Femenina
The 2013 Copa Libertadores Femenina was the fifth edition of the Copa Libertadores Femenina, CONMEBOL's premier annual international women's football club tournament. It was held in Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil. The competition was supposed to start on 12 October, just one week prior to that however, the whole competition was rescheduled from 27 October to 7 November due to logistical problems stated by the Local Organizing Committee. Clubs were given the possibility to change up to five players in their previous submitted squads. Colo Colo were the defending champions. The title was won by São José, their second title after 2011. Maitté Zamorano won the top-scorer award playing for Mundo Futuro by scoring seven goals. Qualification The competition was contested by twelve teams, the champion club from each of the ten nations plus the title holders, Colo Colo, and one additional team from Brazil, the hosts. The Serie A Femenina de Ecuador is the highest amateur league of women's football in Ecuador. The competition is organised by the Ecuadorian Football Federation. Until 2013, the tournament was played by divisional selections and not clubs. After a restructuring in 2013 clubs contest the league title. The winner qualifies to the Copa Libertadores Femenina. As of 2014 all teams are amateur and do not pay their players, the only exception is Rocafuerte which pays small amounts of money. History The national championship was announced and first held 2006. It is open to representative teams of all provinces of Ecuador and not to clubs. In the first edition fifteen regions entered a team and eventually the Guayas selection finished on top of the Pichincha selection to become the first champions. Marlon Javier Ganchozo Santana (born February 21, 1991) is an Ecuadorian football defender who plays for Patria. Club career Marlon Ganchozo began his career at the Alfaro Moreno Academia in Guayaquil. In 2009, he joined the youth ranks of LDU Quito and appeared in 24 matches for the Under-18 side. His play with the Under-18 side did not go unnoticed by manager Edgardo Bauza and Ganchozo was promoted to the senior side in 2010. Ganchozo quickly gained the trust of Bauza and earned a starting spot for the club.
