Robley Dunglison
Robley Dunglison (4 January 1798 – 1 April 1869) was an English-American physician, medical educator and author who served as the first full-time professor of medicine in the United States at the newly founded University of Virginia from 1824 to 1833. He authored multiple medical textbooks and is considered the "Father of American Physiology" after the publication of his landmark textbook ''Human Physiology'' in 1832. He was the personal physician to Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and James Monroe. He consulted in the treatment of Andrew Jackson and was in attendance at Jefferson's death. He served as chair of materia medica, therapeutics, hygiene and medical jurisprudence at the University of Maryland School of Medicine from 1833 to 1836 and chair of the Institutes of Medicine and Medical Jurisprudence at Jefferson Medical College from 1836 to 1868. Robley Rex
Robley Henry Rex (May 2, 1901 – April 28, 2009) was a World War I-era veteran and was, at the age of 107, one of two remaining U.S. veterans related to the First World War. Rex was born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky and enlisted in the military in May, 1919, six months after the Armistice date. He was the last Kentucky World War I era veteran, and the last known World War I era veteran of the United States. He served in the Intelligence Unit. He enlisted in the 5th Infantry Division and later served in the 28th Infantry Division. He trained at Camp Zachary Taylor, Kentucky, and Fort Meade, Maryland, before he was deployed to Europe, where there was still a strong military presence, in order to restabilize Europe post-war. While overseas he served in Andernach, and Coblenz, Germany. Robley Wilson (June 15, 1930 – August 7, 2018) was an American poet, writer, and editor. Educated at Bowdoin College, B.A., 1957; Indiana University, graduate study, 1960; University of Iowa, M.F.A., 1968. Married Charlotte Lehon, August 20, 1955 (divorced, 1990); married fiction writer Susan Hubbard in 1995; two sons: (first marriage) Stephen, Philip, two stepdaughters: Kate and Clare, and two grandchildren, Sam and Kate. Charles Robley Evans (August 9, 1866 – November 30, 1954) was a United States representative from Nevada for one term. Life Evans served as a delegate for Nevada at the 1908 Democratic National Convention and gave his vote to William Jennings Bryan for president and initially supported Charles A. Towne for the vice presidency until his name was withdrawn and switched his support to John W. Kern. In 1916 he sold his saloon to focus on developing his mining company, Wall Street Copper, in Luning, Nevada. On May 7, 1918, Evans wrote a letter to William McKnight, the Secretary of the Democratic State Central committee, announcing his candidacy for Nevada's congressional House seat. Geoffrey Robley Sayer
Geoffrey Robley Sayer (11 February 1887 – 27 January 1962) was a British civil servant and historian. He was the head of the Sanitary Department and Director of Education in Hong Kong in the 1920s and 1930s. Education and career He was born in London on 11 February 1887 to an affluent household. His father was a hydraulic and sanitary engineer. He was educated at Highgate School in London and Queen's College, Oxford, where he obtained an honours degree in classics and philosophy and played cricket. He also won a blue for football. Sayer took the colonial service examinations after graduation and his good results allowed him to opt for the prime postings of India. However, he chose Hong Kong instead and arrived as a cadet on 1 January 1911. Sayer served on various positions and was an acting private secretary to Governor Francis Henry May in 1915. Major General Horatio Gordon Robley (28 June 1840 – 29 October 1930) was a British soldier who fought in colonial wars in New Zealand, Mauritius, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. He made drawings of Māori people and life Māori culture and collected some Māori items. Early life Robley was born at Funchal, Madeira on 28 June 1840, the son of Captain John Horatio Robley and Augusta June Penfold. Robley followed in his father's footsteps and became a professional soldier. However he also inherited his mother's artistic skills and became an accomplished sketcher and watercolourist.
