Robinson I Skärgården
''Robinson i skärgården'' (Robinson in the Archipelago) is a Swedish silent film from 1920 directed by Rune Carlsten. Carlsten also wrote the script for the film together with Sam Ask. The animated intertitles in the film were created by Paul Myrén. Both the duplicate negative and the display copy of the film have been preserved. After appearing in the film, two of the actors, Mary Johnson and Einar Rød, decided to marry. Production The film was shot in August and September 1920 at the Skandiaateljén studio in the Långängen neighborhood of Stocksund, Sweden and on Tobaksholmen in Vaxholm. Plot The consul's widow Silverdahl owns a house in the Stockholm Archipelago. One of her daughters is newly married, and the other, Brita, is in love with the medical student Einar Falk. Rune Carlsten (1890–1970) was a Swedish actor, screenwriter and film director. Vaxholm
Vaxholm is a locality and the seat of Vaxholm Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden. It is located on the island of in the Stockholm archipelago. The name Vaxholm comes from Vaxholm Castle, which was constructed in 1549 on an islet with this name on the inlet to Stockholm, for defence purposes, by King Gustav Vasa. For historical reasons it has always been referred to as a ''city'', despite the small number of inhabitants, which as of 2010 total was 4,857. Vaxholm Municipality prefers to use the designation ''Vaxholms stad'' (City of Vaxholm) for its whole territory, including 64 islets in the Stockholm archipelago, a usage which is somewhat confusing. Robinsonade () is a literary genre that takes its name from the 1719 novel ''Robinson Crusoe'' by Daniel Defoe. The success of this novel spawned so many imitations that its name was used to define a genre, which is sometimes described simply as a "desert island story" or a "castaway narrative". In a robinsonade, the protagonist is suddenly separated from civilization, usually by being shipwrecked or marooned on a secluded and uninhabited island. They must improvise the means of their survival from the limited resources at hand. The word "robinsonade" was coined by the German writer Johann Gottfried Schnabel in the Preface of his 1731 work '' Die Insel Felsenburg'' (''The Island Stronghold''). ''Robinson Crusoe'' () is a novel by Daniel Defoe, first published on 25 April 1719. The first edition credited the work's protagonist Robinson Crusoe as its author, leading many readers to believe he was a real person and the book a travelogue of true incidents. Epistolary, confessional, and didactic in form, the book is presented as an autobiography of the title character (whose birth name is Robinson Kreutznaer) – a castaway who spends 28 years on a remote tropical desert island near the coasts of Venezuela and Trinidad, roughly resembling Tobago, encountering cannibals, captives, and mutineers before being rescued. Stocksund () is an upper class suburb in Metropolitan Stockholm, Sweden. Located immediately across the Edsviken and Stocksundet from Bergshamra, Stocksund is one of four parts of Danderyd Municipality north of Stockholm, which is the most affluent municipality of Sweden.
